Happy 1st Day of November!!!!! Let the birthday weekend shenanigans continue. Little known history fact about me: In 1976, my uncle Osunkunle Erindele Myrie encouraged our family to move from Brooklyn, New York to Nigeria, Africa in search of our ancestral roots. Needless to say, that's where the story of our ancestors began. Fun fact: My brother Sampras Myrie Ashby was almost born there and I still remember alot of the yoruba language. During that time, I was given the name, Ebunkitan Erindele. Ebunkitan translated in the yoruba language means the gift is complete. Erindele is our family's last name, translated in the yoruba language means the elephant of the earth or ground. I was 5 years old at that time when we moved to Nigeria. At that age, I really didn't understand the point of moving from a big city to a small village. However as an adult, I know that transition has shaped me to be the person you see today who loves Nigerian food, music, dance, and fashion.
My family calls me EBUN for short. My GIFT to you is my TESTIMONY through this article featured in Bold Journey magazine. My PRAYER is that it INSPIRES you to keep following your dream and never giving up despite challenges you may be faced with.
