Beautiful!!
“I once belonged to underclass family and I have seen real poverty during my childhood. I could go to school with an empty stomach, no shoes and even without applying body lotion. The only way I thought I will fight the poverty was through attaining education and then a good job, but how can one learn when she or he is hungry, only God knows.
I recall my standard 4 teacher asked me one day, what I wanted to become of when I grow up. Boldly I replied that I would like to be a Nurse. Then I was there in standard 6, embracing my dream of becoming a nurse, I wondered how and when? I asked my teacher what it takes for one to become a nurse and she told me that I have to pass and go to secondary school, and later pass MSCE again so that I go to a nursing training college where I will be trained as a nurse. She added that for me to pass through all these stages, I MUST work very hard.
From that time, I told myself that no matter what circumstance that may come on my way I will try my best level to work hard and be a nurse. During my secondary school time, I concentrated on science subjects since you cannot study nursing without the knowledge of science subjects. By God's grace, I was selected to study not only "nursing" but 'Nursing and Midwifery" at one of the nursing colleges. By then I had started living my dream. I loved what I was studying and because of this I was nominated as best student nurse at the clinical area. I enjoyed the course very much, especially the midwifery part such that when I qualified I told my boss at the hospital to work in the maternity unit. I love attending to pregnant women and babies, by the way please don’t ask me why. I must say that I’m proud to be part of the established profession that puts caring for people at the core of everything and I have never regretted my decision. You have to love the midwife in me.”
