An exciting truth 👇🏽😯
This one always gets some pushback, but we are at a point where we have proven time and time again that:
LIFTING WEIGHTS IN OLDER AGES IS BENEFICIAL AND SAFE 👏🏽
I took a family trip to Redbluff, Ca about a year ago, and came across a gym for a drop-in and in the other room I saw a class going on full of more elderly patients. When I asked the coach about it, he told me this was the “silver sneakers club” how great is that?! Not only a fun and clever name and community, but it’s exciting to see that we are prioritizing the health of older folks and teaching them the importance of resistance training 🏋🏽♂️
The idea that it’s too dangerous for them is old news. What we find is that it actually has multiple benefits like the ones listed above 👆🏽
I would argue that it’s more dangerous for them not to exercise and lift weights. Staying sedentary breeds illness. Stay moving, stay mobile, stay strong 💪🏽
