Thanksgiving is a day of gratitude and mixed feelings. I am grateful for Thanksgiving being a time for my family to get together; at the same time, It has a foundation of injustice that breaks my heart. The same rings true for the birth and postpartum world America is in. So today, I want to acknowledge what I'm grateful for without erasing the difficult foundations.

πAs an IBCLC, while Iβm grateful to support families in feeding their babies, I am heartbroken by the social systems that stole the power & physiology of birth and feeding from generations of people to the point that IBCLC had to become a professional.

While the foundation is broken, I trust change-makers in every role, and I know each year, there will be more to be grateful for!
