Single Leg Strength is the essence of functional lower body strength training; this type of training allow aggressive lower body work for athletes who might otherwise avoid strength training entirely.

Try these 2 exercises for your next leg day:

1/ Single Leg Squat - force the pelvic to activate as the main muscle stabilizer for this movement. One major benefits of this single leg squat variation is the sense of balance they develop.

2/ Barbell Split Squat- this trains your glutes med, adductor, and quadratus lumborum muscle operate together, which is critical for sport skills. Key for injury prevention and conditioning for athletic performance.

YOU DON’t NEED TO BARBELL BACK SQUAT.

While barbell squat is a great strength exercise, often times it is not the best option for a lot of people. Maybe they’re dealing with nagging lower back and knee pain, they don’t have the required mobility to perform the movement, or simply just too fatigue from work and family. Doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t squat. Switch over to a squat variation that doesn’t directly load the spine but still delivers a quality training effect on the muscles and leaves you healthy to train another day.

By simply doing a squat variation that doesn’t load your spine directly, like the Landmine Front Squat in this video; we can significantly reduce the chance of injuries in the gym. To consistently perform better pain- free, be smart with your training and give your body a chance to get stronger by smarter exercise selection.

The key to a successful nutrition strategy that actually gives you result is finding an approach that you enjoy and helps you feel your best. Typically, that means NOT resorting to extremes. You want to create an environment where long term adherence is present in order for positive changes to actually happens.

So I encourage you to think beyond just the one week or the one month. Find a diet that suits you rather than forcing a square peg into a round hole. ⁣
