So so cute when my youngest made ‘mom at work’ from Lego’s today 😍 started as a joke when he made his dad at work.. then said: I have to do yours too mom! And he first put me in front of the TV haha had to explain to him that that never happens at work .. so he changed it to a painting and added a baby bottle instead !
I love what I do.. supporting the parents on the best journey of their lives is a privilege each time 🥰

I just love when I care overnight for a breastfed newborn and a few weeks in, we can start giving a bottle to give mom a little break. The parents feel so happy that they’re able to sleep a little bit longer. This is so important for mental health and sanity! Such a big part of what we do as a Postpartum Doula, is making sure the parents take care of themselves so they can take good care of their children. And if I get rewarded with cute little milk dream smiles, that’s just a bonus 😍😍😍

🍁🍁 * Happy Thanksgiving 2024! * 🍁🍁

I’m so grateful this year for the families that trust me to support them. I just love how, though I give it so much, still it feels like I get more in return ! The bond in those early nights, the thankfulness, the genuine appreciation and friendship I often get in return, how is that work? I just love it! And having the health and opportunity to do this work, finding work that I love to do, is something I’ll always be grateful for. 🧡

Oh my goodness!!! Barbie is pregnant ?!! 😉
I’m all for postpartum doula support for every new parent ! So Barbie, I would say: make sure you find your tribe !! Get doula support, surround yourself with other parents for emotional support and make a postpartum plan 🩷💙 I mean, who wouldn’t want to be Barbie’s postpartum Doula? 😅

feeling thankful for this bunch .. for my whole family, for good health, for how fortunate we are, for the privilege of raising compassionate loving boys, for seeing them care for the world and people and animals in it 🩵 for being able to travel and showing my boys the world from different perspectives and teaching them there is more than one right way.. to be open minded and love others and always, always share and be grateful 🩵

New mommas need more help and encouragement than ever before! So as a postpartum doula I love to ask them how I can be of support and often even support them in ways they didn’t know they needed.. sleep, extra hands, a listening ear, a break and all that with no judgment 💗

I try to encourage new moms to feel ok to ask for some help, for what they need ! If you’re a new momma: what do you need today?
And if you know a new momma: What can you do for a new momma today to show support?

So proud of this little 5wk old learning to fall asleep independently. I’ve told his parents the importance of not always rocking, nursing or holding him to fall asleep… of course it’s fine to snuggle, sing, kiss and all the good stuff before bedtime but falling asleep independently is important to learn … and he did it.

White noise on, swaddled and pretty tired he was laid in his crib awake and slowly fell asleep on his own. So with practice hopefully when he gets older he can fall asleep without needing too much help 💗 and lots of hugs and kisses and songs while awake at bedtime, because everyone loves those!

✨ MOTHER’S DAY ✨

Growing up as youngest of 6 my mom was there for us. I remember her being home after school with lemonade and biscuits and just her being there..
I became a mother at the same age my mom was when she had me - my first , her sixth! … Imagine that.. I’m proud to call her my mom and so grateful to be a mommy of my two boys myself. They love me fiercely!

Yesterday I was thankful for my mom, for being a mom, for all the mom friends and sisters I get to do life with and that love on my boys and me, and for all the moms I get to support and walk alongside with as they became a mother.
It is SUCH an honor to support new moms in getting to know their babies, seeing them grow in confidence and be the mom they’re meant to be for their own baby!

I also honor the women that really want to be moms, or lost their baby, or lost their own moms, and have a hard time with Mother’s Day because as much as it is a holiday, for many it’s painful as well so we must never forget to look around and offer support and love when we can !!

Just ‘BE’ .. after very busy weeks I’m rediscovering the wonderful way to just be in the moment. With work, family, friends.. wherever I’m a,t to just be present and not be distracted on the phone or with checklists with a million to do’s.. so instead: bike ride with my 9 year old, baking for my kids when they come home from school , taking a nice walk with the dogs, having my kids friends over to hang out, calling my parents on the phone .. because the little worries about things often overshadow the big meaningful things so I’m trying more to just BE and make time for the main things even though there’s constant pull and push from all sides, I hope I can keep getting better at choosing to BE… chaos comes but all you really need is to just breathe!

✨Happy World Doula Week ✨

I’m grateful and happy every time I support new parents. It’s such a joy to walk alongside families the first weeks or months of their newborns life.
It’s wonderful to have doula support whether it’s before, during and / or after you give birth. Asking for support and getting the help you need is empowering for new parents !

✨ What’s the newborn curl? ✨

When full term babies are nearing the end of their time in the womb, space is usually tight and their position is curled up with their legs bend.
So sometimes newborns tend to be in that position after birth a while longer, turned to their side.

I’ve had parents ask me if this is a problem since the safe sleep recommendations state that babies need to be placed on their backs for sleep and yes, that still goes for babies who do the newborn curl.

Here’s what I usually recommend based on safe sleep research:
✨ always place your baby on their back for sleep, whether you swaddle or not
✨ when during sleep you notice your baby is turned to their side in the newborn curl, it’s fine to gently roll them back to their back. As long as they are not able to roll over yet during the day, it is safe to keep them in a swaddle
✨the newborn curl usually disappears within a few days to weeks postpartum

Of course whenever you have any concerns, ask your pediatrician what is the best course of action!
