ICYMI: The final drop of wastewater was processed at the Ray Stoyer Water Recycling Facility in October 2025, followed by its decommissioning celebration on April 8, 2026.

The facility is slated for demolition in late 2026/early 2027 as the site transitions to a new era of water reuse, with some of the existing structures being repurposed for the new plant and continued delivery of recycled water to customers.

The Ray Stoyer Water Recycling Facility was officially decommissioned yesterday after 50+ years of service. A pioneer in water reuse, it proved that water is too precious to be used just once. Its legacy will live on through the East County AWP Program. We were honored to have the Director of the East County AWP Program, Mark Niemiec, share remarks at the ceremony. πŸ’§β™»οΈπŸš°
