When Darryl and his wife noticed their son Dominic wasn’t communicating like other kids his age, they reached out for help.

With an autism diagnosis, Dominic began receiving life-changing services through the Early Start program where he acquired an Alternative Augmentative Communication (AAC) device with funding provided by California Department of Developmental Services, to support his communication. Using his device, Dominic can now tell his parents when he's hungry, talk about books he's reading and movies he's watching, and speak with his daycare teachers. By overcoming communication barriers, Dominic is finding his voice.
