Moving out is a significant life milestone and thanks to Hodon and Alex, supportive roommates at .homies, Stevenson took the leap to independence. Through their existing relationship with Stevenson at day program, Hodon and Alex went from Stevenson’s friends to his supportive roommates.

By supporting Stevenson with his daily routine, taking trips to Universal Studios, and even learning to surf, Hodon and Alex’s support have empowered Stevenson to grow and challenge himself.

The last year of Stevenson’s growth shows what’s possible when a supportive home and a strong community come together.

The holiday spirit is in full swing at SDRC! We celebrated another great year of serving the San Diego and Imperial community at Town and Country San Diego with a whole lot of festivity and cheer. This joyful celebration was a chance to reflect, give thanks, and honor our incredible staff. A big thank you to each and every one of our team members who work to support the individuals and families we serve. Our dedication, compassion, and commitment make a lasting difference in the lives of the individuals and families we serve every day.

San Diego Honda Dealers is spreading holiday cheer this season, and one lucky recipient is Oli’s Cookies! It's been over a year since we first shared Oli's story, and today, Oli's Cookies continues to grow. Laura Bache created Oli's Cookies for both her love of baking and to spread autism awareness and acceptance "one cookie at a time." To support her growing cookie business and furthermore, to support the Oli's Cookies Mission, Laura dreams of purchasing more efficient cookie baking equipment, and that dream is one step closer to reality.

Each holiday season, as part of the annual Capitol Tree Lighting in Sacramento, all 21 Regional Centers decorate a designated 6 foot tree outside the Capitol Building. Hand made ornaments created by individuals across the state, including those we serve at SDRC, bring both the Regional Center trees and the grand Capitol tree to life. This year, Taylor, SDRC Board Member and self-advocate, her mother, her SDRC service coordinator, and a few of our SDRC leaders and staff visited Sacramento to join in the festivities of placing these ornaments on our Tree.

It’s a tradition that brightens the season and celebrates our community, and an honor to be a part of it!

Attention SDRC Providers!

We are seeking a service provider to establish an Emergency Shelter for short-term (approximately 3–5 days) emergency shelter services to support clients who may be displaced during disasters. The goal is to equip and prepare one existing Community Care Licensed facility in North County San Diego, with supplies, storage, and staffing support to care for SDRC clients with dignity, safety, and consistency during times of crisis/disaster. The startup funds available are up $60,000. Learn more at sdrc.org/providers

Jewelry, ceramics, paintings, photography prints, ornaments, knitting creations–you name it! Our annual SDRC Holiday Craft Fair in both San Diego and Imperial Valley was a huge success. Staff and visitors were carrying their shopping finds in armfuls, and more importantly, the talented makers went home smiling. Hosting a space for the individuals we serve to share their work is an honor. The talent and creativity shines through in each piece.

Moving out is a huge milestone in anyone's life, and for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, it often comes with unique challenges.

For years Garrett had dreams of moving out and living independently but barriers continued to make this goal feel out of reach. Garrett’s dreams started taking shape when he met his Homies supportive roommate, Ricardo.

The “magic” that Garrett describes was a true, meaningful connection in a safe and supportive environment. With a shared love for cooking, music, and mountain biking, Garrett and Ricardo continue to grow their relationship as “homies.”

Our Imperial Valley team went the extra mile this weekend to meet community members where they are—at the 46th Annual Farmworkers Appreciation Breakfast.

From midnight to 4am, farmworkers gathered to enjoy a hot, early morning breakfast to recognize their hard work and vital contributions to the community. Our team awoke early to speak with hundreds of attendees about SDRC services and resources.

A heartfelt thank-you to the farmworkers, their families, and our dedicated team for their commitment and service to the community.
