MY STORY
I was not an athlete in school. I didn't do "diets" as a young adult. I am third generation Mexican-American, born and raised in California, that ate whatever I wanted...tortillas, soda, pan dulce, Twinkies, even white bread with just mayonnaise on it. I never ran, occasionally I would go to the gym, but I had no idea what I was doing and I felt very uncomfortable and embarrassed to ask for help. I just didn't make my diet and fitness a priority and it was taking a toll on my health.
In August of 2014, I had had ENOUGH! I was over 185 pounds (I'm 5'2). I couldn't climb the stairs or bend over to tie my shoes without being winded. I was given a warning by my doctor that I was pre-diabetic. Scared me to death!
August 2014 changed my life! I decided to do something out of character and I enrolled in a Fit4mom 8 week session. I was the slowest runner. I couldn't do a sit-up...but these moms never gave up on me. They shared their journey and EMPOWERED me to push on. I learned to eat CLEAN. I learned I was STRONGER than I thought. I learned the truth about the food industry.
It took MANY sessions, it took lots of time, it took a lot of hard work...but it was so worth it!!
For over 6 years, I have worked in Healthcare. I have my bachelor's in Health Care Administration. Currently, I am working on my certificate in Nutrition. I work part-time with a long commute into San Diego 3 days a week. On the days I am home, you can find me knee deep in laundry, working on sight words, shuttling my cubs to and from school and practices; but you can also find me doing Yoga, Meal Prepping and in my garage Gym.
Somebody believed in me when I didn't believe in myself. And I am here today to pay it forward to you.
