Meet Twisha, creator of Conscious Cafe (), an Ayurvedic inspired pop-up cafe.
Twisha’s journey with food and farmers markets started in high school when she worked for a pasta company at farmers markets in Boston. She instantly fell in love with the energy and connection of local markets.
Her parents run an Indian restaurant in Stoneham, Massachusetts, so she grew up around kitchens, hospitality, and the magic of sharing food with others.
Twisha always knew she wanted to start something of her own. She eventually packed up all her belongings and drove across the country to San Diego, and began exploring the local coffee and tea scene.
After trying several chai “tea lattes,” she realized they were often sugary, watered-down versions of the masala chai she grew up with and loved.
Thus Conscious Cafe was born. It came from the desire to create a place where people could experience authentic masala chai made with real spices and intention. The chai she serves is based on her grandmother’s recipe, passed down through her family.
Beyond chai, Twisha has been fascinated by tea and the healing qualities of spices and botanicals.
Through Conscious Cafe, she loves sharing delicious recipes made with Ayurvedic spices, floral ingredients, and the traditions used in India for generations with the San Diego community.
