Thank you for making the time and spending an evening together, growing community. Thank you to those that wanted to come, but couldn’t make it.
Birthwork, doula work, is challenging and a bit isolated. Community, connection, conversation, and discovery are all essential elements to sustaining within this work. It’s important to be seen, feel heard, be validated. A safe place for questions and processing. I look forward to building community and relationships more!

We’ve had a devastating loss of sweet baby Isabelle-Mae at 4 weeks old. Her parents, Paige & Cyle, need our support.

Last Sunday, baby Bella laid down for a nap and never woke up. So many people were involved with doing everything possible to save her life. There are unexpected medical bills from both Grossmont Hospital and Rady Children’s Hospital, ambulance fees for both transports, mortuary and funeral expenses all coming up. They desperately need funds for long term therapy from providers who specialize in infant loss (not covered by insurance). Paige has also used up her maternity leave while recovering from birth, her body is still healing postpartum and she is continuing to collect Bella’s milk to donate to other babies in need. Extra funds gathered will be used to allow Paige and Cyle this critical time to grieve and begin to heal before needing to return to work.

I’m so honored I was there for her first breath and her last. She is so loved and so missed.

There really aren’t enough words to express how significant midwifery is to me. The honor of supporting families and working with other midwives is more than words could ever convey. Thank you families for choosing midwifery care and for valuing us. Thank you midwives, you are the only ones who truly understand what this calling encompasses. I see you, your dedication, your sacrifice, your investment, your heart, and heartache. I’m beyond grateful that I get to be a midwife and love so many families as they grow ✨💗

Happy International Homebirth Day!

It can be difficult to find words that describe all that homebirth can encompass. There is something so powerful about preparing for a homebirth that even if it’s not where your baby takes their first breath, it’s forever part of their story. About intentional preparation, about the sacredness of your space and time, about the love and unconditional support that is given. We witness strength and endurance, overcoming emotional and mental barriers, love and service, digging deep to trust your body and your baby. Owning your experience and welcoming your baby in such a mindful way.

I wish everyone could witness the beauty and challenges of homebirth. Unfortunately it’s not a spectator sport. I do feel so honored to hold space for birth and to support such incredible moments.

There is an underlying importance of homebirth for all families in all cultures. 🙌The normalcy of birth.🙌
Even if homebirth is not the right choice for a person or a family, we can all agree that most people are completely out of touch with what birth actually is and that most adults have fear around birth. These are repercussions from the majority of births taking place in hospitals, medical management of birth, and the media’s portrayal of this very misunderstood process. Witnessing birth, supporting someone else through their preparation for physiologic birth, and hearing stories can be so impactful that even those who won’t birth or don’t want a homebirth can have perspective shifts. We need families who don’t fear this normal event. We need individuals who know and understand their bodies. We need space and support to ask questions and be educated.

From what I’ve seen… it all starts at home. I’ve seen my clients’ friends, grandparents, siblings, and older children be forever changed by being involved in some aspect of inviting a new soul into this world. Even the care you receive before and after your birth makes a big difference.
