Can I do asymmetrical yoga poses if I have scoliosis?
Yes!!!
Absolutely!
However, if you are new to working with your scoliosis during yoga, it will definitely be easier to start with symmetrical poses.

Why?
Because you will need to learn to work a little differently on your two sides to create more balance in your body.
That will be easier in a symmetrical pose.
As you get more comfortable with that concept, you can incorporate more asymmetrical poses and learn the differences on your two sides.
Now if your brain doesn’t feel twisty after all that, you are special!

The reality is, there is a learning curve and it’s confusing in the beginning.
With time, it becomes automatic and you don’t have to think about it so much.

I always recommend connecting with a good yoga teacher,
or trained Schroth physical therapist to help you truly understand the dynamics of your curves.
