Kim Fleming, MA Counseling Psychology

Kim Fleming, MA Counseling Psychology Providing a wrap around service for you and your beloved horse. Psycho-education & horsemanship 101.

I am dedicated to assisting you in reconnecting with your values, making healthy choices, and working through unmanaged problem areas. I work with a somatic approach that focuses on addressing incongruences between your desired outcome and your current behavior, and then emphasizes your strengths to reach your goals. My work focuses on encouraging self- awareness by developing insight into the interaction between body and mind. Greater sense of self allows us to feel emotions; address previously unconscious behaviors and will naturally encourage change and healing.

When it comes to making smart decisions, sometimes all it takes is a simple reminder from your dog. That is exactly what the good people over at Budweiser did in their new ad campaign promoting responsible drinking. The “Friends Are Waiting” campaign will definitely tug at your heartstrings and mayb…

My most resent reading material, from the local library "Muscular Retraining for Pain Free Living," by Craig Williamson. This will be a must have in my collection of books. Part one clearly explains the importance of mind and body awareness. Part two provides exercises designed to retrain muscles and targets specific regions of the body. The exercises address regions commonly known for tension and chronic pain. Examples/exercises are provided for retraining muscle memory leading to more effective response and usage.
Many of you know as a Marriage and Family Therapist Intern I am in private practice. I wanted to share this book to help explain a big part of my therapeutic approach. Craig Williamson describes in his book the importance of understanding "the nervous system" -( mind) and "the muscular system" -(body).

Many of you also know my love for horses and positive attitude toward constant progression of riding skill/knowledge. Those who are horse friendly would likely benefit from body awareness in relation to equestrian riding. It is my belief what Craig Williamson describes in his book can enhance performance for any athlete regardless of the sport.

I took interest in this article, by Miranda Palmer, who is a LinkedIn connection that posts often about the profession of Psychotherapy whether it is an MFT, LCSW, Ph.D., etc. The importance of practicing ethics is clear in this particular article and the reason I relate is my private practice. Recently I spend a lot of time establishing for others my beliefs are and what theories I might derive from. In the process of creating my website, marketing, and other forms of putting me out there, this article helps me when writing, and focus on what is most important. I feel accurate representation of who I am as a therapist and the utmost consideration for the clients well-being rank very high in order of importance. I must stay within the guidelines of my governing board, for me that is Board of Behavioral Science, and build a business that will stand on honest, ethical standards. Thanks Miranda!

“There are too many false things in the world, and I don’t want to be a part of them. If you say what you think, you’re called cocky or conceited. But if you have an objective in life, you shouldn’t be afraid to stand up and say it. In the second grade, they asked us what we wanted to be. I said I w…

I am scheduling intake interviews for the women's group. Interviews are July 8 through July 29, 2014 in preparation of group sessions beginning in August. Process group, in this case is for women in high functioning occupations and life in general. This is an opportunity to experience the power of honest communication, gaining support in a safe environment, and bearing raw emotion, whatever that is for you. In my experience, nothing compares to the bonding that develops in group therapy. Call or email to reserve your seat...you have nothing to lose but gaining yourself. This will be beauty in the raw! I’m excited to be part of your journey!
