As of July 1, 2025 The law allows sales directly from the producer to the consumer, including at farmers’ markets, roadside stands, events, and online platforms, but sales must remain within Tennessee. Producers are not required to register with the state or obtain a permit, and there is no requirement for a food handler’s permit or a kitchen inspection by the state.

🎂 Ever wonder why we even have birthday cakes?

🌕It all started in ancient Greece, when people baked honey cakes to honor Artemis — goddess of the moon (yep, that round shape was intentional).
🕯️Then 18th-century Germany took it up a notch with Kinderfeste — kids’ birthday celebrations featuring candles for each year of life
🍰Fast forward: frosting, sprinkles, and a “make a wish” later — and here we are.
A 2,000-year-old tradition that still ends with cake 🥹💫

🍩 Why We Don’t Call Them *Jimmies*

Language matters — even in dessert. 🍫

You might’ve heard chocolate sprinkles called “jimmies,” but here’s why many bakers (myself included) don’t use that term anymore:
🧁 The word has debated origins, but some trace it back to a racial slur used in the early 1900s.
🍬 While some brands and regions claim it was just marketing slang, it’s still linked to a painful history for many communities.
💡 So out of respect — and because *sprinkles* are already a perfectly sweet word — I stick with that instead.

It’s a small change that makes our kitchen just a little more inclusive. 💕

✨ Words evolve. So can we.
