Thoracic Mobility 💪

- The Thoracic spine is built for movement, bending
and twisting
- Designed for flexion, extension, and rotation
- Sedentary lifestyle leads to a reduction in spine
mobility, so take scheduled breaks to do these
exercises daily.
- Doing mobility exercises regularly helps reduce future
compensation patterns potentially leading to injury

Shoulder Mobility

The shoulder is a complex joint that must provide stability, as well as MOBILITY:
- Joint most vulnerable to injury
- Preventative care can protect against injury
- Extensive periods of time using repetitive motion, like being at a computer, need to allow for mobility breaks
- There are 10 different types of shoulder articulations

The plank position targets the deep stabilizing muscles of the abdominals, spine, shoulders, and hips. The rowing portion of the exercise targets the upper back and arms. Happy Workout Wednesday!

We also have our Student Personal Wellness online and in person programs being offered starting this week. Dr. Laurie Santos is a professor at Yale University who is the founder of a course called the "Psychology of the Good Life" which has gone viral worldwide. When starting to try and get a healthy fitness routine together, most people struggle with motivation and consistency. Sohee Lee is a Certified Sports Nutritionist, Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist and has her B.A. in Human Biology as well as her M.S. in Psychology. Getting stronger and increasing cardiovascular fitness does not necessarily have to be done inside of a gym! Outdoor natural settings can help you achieve better fitness with the added benefit of fresh air and a fresh perspective. Research is showing more than ever connecting with nature diminishes stress and anxiety. Activities like running hills and stairs or doing pushups or rows on a park bench can work your lungs and muscles as well as clear your mind. So, get outside and get your STRONG ON!!
