San Ysidro Health welcomed leaders from the California Department of Public Health and the CDC’s Binational Border Infectious Disease Surveillance (BIDS) Program for a collaborative tour. The BIDS program works with U.S. southern border states to strengthen binational detection, reporting, and prevention of infectious diseases.

Our Research and Health Promotion team highlighted several prevention‑focused initiatives, including our work with PREVENT, which is expanding access to no‑cost respiratory testing through new testing vending machines now available at four San Ysidro Health sites. This effort supports community‑level surveillance and makes timely testing more accessible for our patients and neighbors.

A heartfelt thank‑you to Jose Montes, SYHC's Sr. Clinic Services Manager, for guiding the visit and exemplifying the culture and dedication that define San Ysidro Health.

San Ysidro Health had the privilege of welcoming the Retired Physicians group with the San Diego County Medical Society (SDCMS) for an in-depth visit to our El Cajon Health Center and San Diego PACE sites.

Our President and CEO, Kevin Matson, alongside Dr. Maria Carriedo Ceniceros, VP & Chief Medical Officer and incoming SDCMS Chair, led a meaningful discussion highlighting our communities served across the county, our workforce development efforts, and our commitment to training the next generation of providers as a Teaching Health Center.

With more than 400 physicians providing the highest quality care to patients across San Ysidro Health, we were honored to showcase the depth and impact of our clinical care and community rooted mission.

Even though Open Enrollment has ended, you may still qualify for Covered California’s Special Enrollment Period if you’ve had a Qualifying Life Event, such as losing Medi‑Cal or other health coverage, moving, having a baby, getting married, or other major life changes. Most people have 60 days from the event to enroll.
