Trying something different.
I've worked out most of the kinks on resin casting for small scale production. This opens more options on materials and product design. It also removes most of the expense and risk with brining and idea to market.

The ideas and 3D models will be shared online with a Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license. This means that if you like an idea, you can download the 3D models from Thingiverse. If you don't want to make one, we will have them for sale at UglyRobe.com.

I'll be working through a backlog of projects and ideas while trying to document and share the process.
If anyone has any questions for a project they are working on, I would be happy to help. This may also let me know what information would be useful to others.
More to come soon. Thanks!

Created a urethane resin mold from an SLA printed part and tin cured silicone. The process takes a bit longer but the first mask made with it looks really good without the texture from a FDM 3D printed mold.

I enjoy not having to smile for a photo! 😀
Taking the dog to the park and testing the mask in the San Diego morning sun. The dogs are so happy to get out, play with friends and shake people down for treats.
The mask works pretty well. Easy to breath and doesn't get too hot. Might try trimming around the top of the nose to work with my sunglasses.

Testing out the latest design for a silicone face mask. The mask is comfortable to wear, creates a good seal around the face and is easy to breath through. Two inserts hold the filter material in place. The silicone rubber can withstand high temperatures and is easy to clean.
Need to check how well the elastic holds up.
Made with 3D printed molds.

Working on a design for a face mask.
The silicone rubber creates a tight seal around the face and can be heated to 450F.
The resin part holds the whole thing together and can be easily cleaned with soap and water.
The large airway minimizes the filter material needed while allowing enough air through to breath normally.
Working with friends to test the shape of the mask against a variety of faces. So far I have medium and large.
