I know this isn't realistic every day of the week...or even every week.
But, I firmly believe it in every cell of body. Science believes it too.
Self-care, yoga classes, a haircut, dinner with the family, a jog on the beach...whatever it is!...should be fun and enjoyable. Even if it's a real 'Netflix and Chill' night or a glass of wine after work. Be present and mindful so that you can really enjoy it and make that decision for yourself.
Otherwise, it's a stress. Kind of like one step forward and two steps back. You did it! But you didn't rest your mind. You didn't step into the parasympathetic mode where your body can truly rest and recharge, where you actually feel renewed, relaxed, and joyful.
Yoga---> check
Gym -->check
Dinner with girls -->check
-->on to laundry and homework, need to return phone calls, etc.
Our to-do lists are insane! But we will never get today back, remember.
Yeah, I know, we have to get back to it, but lets take our 60 or whatever minutes of "me" time, fully take it in, and then gradually transition back to the list checking.
🤔..Maybe it's a stretch, but can we go so far as to enjoy the tasks on our to-do lists? Let's talk about those meal-prepping ones...Can we enjoy washing dishes, grocery shopping, looking up snack ideas, washing and chopping our veggies for the week? Well if not, maybe we can at least be present during them and grateful for our actions and our food:)
Take a break each day and do something your truly enjoy. You body, your mind, and your health goals with thanks you. I promise.
