Cortisol
Sleep deprivation raises cortisol, signaling the body to conserve energy and protect visceral fat, especially around the abdomen, while increasing muscle breakdown.
The result is a metabolically resistant state where fat loss becomes significantly harder, even in a calorie deficit.
