Volunteer with us at the Mission Bay Hub STEM Summit on April 21.

This event brings together high school students from across San Francisco who are interested in exploring STEM careers. Students will rotate through short interactive workshops led by local STEM professionals.

We’re looking for volunteers who can lead a hands-on activity or demonstration and share a bit about their path into STEM. It’s a great opportunity to introduce students to different fields and help them see what a future in STEM could look like.

Morning and afternoon volunteer shifts are available.

We’re so grateful to the Cytokinetics team for partnering with us to celebrate graduating high school and college students from Breakthrough SF and Peninsula Bridge.

Their team assembled 62 graduation bags that will be shared with students as they prepare to cross the stage this year — recognizing the hard work, persistence, and milestones ahead. For many first-generation students, moments like these are powerful reminders that their community is cheering them on.

Thank you, Cytokinetics, for helping uplift and honor students across our community.

Today, we honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
A leader who believed that “the arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends toward justice.”

At Life Science Cares Bay Area, we carry that legacy forward by working alongside the life sciences community to eradicate poverty and inequality through basic needs, education, and opportunity.

From opening doors to STEM education, to expanding workforce pathways, to partnering with companies committed to equity—our mission is rooted in the belief that access creates possibility.

This MLK Day, we reflect, we serve, and we recommit to building a future where every individual has the opportunity to thrive.

🤝 In community.
🧬 In service.
✨ In action.

✨ Calling Bay Area Life Sciences HR & Talent Leaders ✨

At Project Onramp, our mission is to expand access to paid, meaningful life sciences internships for first-generation and low-income college students, helping to build a more inclusive and representative biotech workforce. One of the most impactful ways we do this work is by partnering with organizations that invest early in student readiness and career exposure.

We’re inviting a member of the Life Science HR community to support this mission by meeting with students in Diversity By Doing’s Pathways in Healthtech program to help them tailor their resumes to be life sciences-ready during their program kickoff.

📍 When: January 18 at approximately 1:30 PM
📍 Where: In person at Fogarty Innovation (Mountain View, CA)
📍 Who: Students learning about health innovation, building projects, and connecting directly with industry professionals

These students come together every other weekend to develop technical skills, explore innovation in health, and gain exposure to real-world career pathways. Your expertise could be the difference between a student feeling uncertain—and feeling confident enough to pursue an opportunity in the life sciences.

If you’re available and interested in participating—or know someone who would be a great fit—please comment below or sign up here. We’d love to have you join us in advancing equity, access, and opportunity across the life sciences ecosystem.

A new year invites reflection—and renewed commitment.

Over the past year, our Life Science Cares community came together to expand access to basic needs, education, and opportunity across our region. We witnessed what’s possible when nonprofit partners, volunteers, and life science leaders move forward with shared purpose.

As we step into the year ahead, we’re asking our community to help shape what comes next.

If you had to choose one word to guide your impact this year, what would it be?

Our word at Life Science Cares: Access.

Drop your word in the comments—and let’s continue building impact together.
