Seeing SO many people posting about going analog makes me happy. Social Media use peaked in 2022 and there has since been a 10% drop in use. GenZ especially is moving off these platforms 🙌🏼

I’ve known for the last couple years that I no longer want an ‘online business’ so to say. I have not had the goal of selling anything (courses or services) on social media.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Do I have a small place online that I will occasionally inhabit? Yes. However, more and more I feel much happier when I’m off it (which doesn’t mean I’m staying uninformed about issues, or not taking community action for positive collective change ).

Social media is another ‘producer / consumer’ economy where the owners profit the more addicted we are. They need producers to wave shiny things and keep the consumers hooked. Social Media does not reward nuance, depth or slowness - it rewards hot takes, emotionally triggering & polarizing content.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
They keep algorithms ever-changing so business owner’s are constantly chasing, with the unspoken message that if you just sacrifice enough or your time, energy, health, and maybe even soul, you just might be the lucky one to hit the jackpot!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This is not a statement that marketing on social media is ’right or wrong’. There is no judgment here. Each person gets to decide for themselves what works for them, based on their personal goals and values. It’s not ‘all or nothing’
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
A question I’m asking myself this year: Are you using social media? Or is social media using you? I want to move with the rhythm of nature, which is real, real slow. Cause being omnipresent online as a business owner just isn’t for me.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I will be writing at a sloth’s pace.
Sharing on a whim.
Focusing on active client work.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Best way to find me will be email 😆🙌🏼 (website in bio)
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
How will you be using social media this year?
