♻️🌿Living more sustainably has been on my radar for a while now.
I want to share a recent sustainable example that might inspire some of you or encourage you to continue doing what you are already doing.
Two years ago I vouched to cut down store bought clothing and focus on something I like to call ‘mindful fashion’. Mindful fashion is not about fleeting colours, shapes, patterns or plastic. It’s about organic, sustainable materials that will last forever. Mostly, it’s about cherishing a piece that has brought someone else a ton of joy.
I am obsessed with , have been for years. There are literally a ton of accounts on Etsy that follow my ‘mindful fashion’ model. Last week I bought an epic 100% cotton vintage shirt 🤍 (see the photos in the post) and I love the detail work, the buttons are covered in the same cotton material as the shirt - you rarely see that anymore… And check out the silk and cotton dress 💓I grabbed from a charity fashion & bash I participated two years ago.
If you are still not convinced, I made a quick list of the benefits:
💶cuts down your expense;
🌟supports local artisans (like on Etsy);
♻️you are contributing by cutting down on the amount of waste: reduce, reuse and recycle;
🤍it’s fun finding your own style;
👉🏻you find really excellent quality items that you can’t really purchase anymore in regular shops, and if you find the same quality, you pay through the roof; and
⭐️all the piece are unique - you will not find anyone else wearing what you are wearing.
There is another side to ‘mindful fashion’ and that’s ordering from accounts on Etsy that custom makes items using the same ethos I highlighted above. My PJs set was custom made with organic linen and it’s so much more breathable and comfortable. It regulates my body temperature so I don’t wake up sweating and the more you wash it the softer it gets.
Let’s all help our environment together ! I would love to read some of the ways you are living more sustainably, please share in the comment section below👇🏻
