We were very saddened to find out that Bob from Bob and Brad YouTube videos passed away on August 8. Below is a video with many beautiful words from his son and a simple but clear message to live life to the fullest, be good and kind to people, and… Eat sweets. 😊
I’ve referred many patients to Bob and Brad‘s videos, even just for a good laugh. What Joy….and what a gift Bob was to the world. Over 4000 videos ….incredible. Im in awe.

Bob, thank you for your gift to every single person who has watched your videos. Thank you, Brad & Co for keeping the light shining. 💙 Thank you to Bob’s son who shared the last precious moments he spent with his dad and reminded us of what is really important. Thank you to Bobs wife who’s care of Bob resulted in life saving organ donation! And huge thanks to Bobs daughter for taking the reins and guiding the Bob and Brad business into its next phase. We at LHPT are Sending out love to Bob’s family and friends who find themselves at a loss - you all know well that he was loved & lauded even by people he never met….. Truly the Mr Rogers of the Physical Therapy World.💙

Valê Mark Wachter of On the Run. What a gift he was to our community here in San Francisco. Many of our patients have received the relief they needed with shoes and orthotics recommended by this gifted man. Recently Dr Maral Hassanshahi took a family member there to be fitted and was so pleased to meet him and benefit from his experience. He will most certainly be missed.

Possibly. Almost anyone you ask with migraines, headaches, pain associated nerve injury, neck and back pain, any form of arthritis, joint issues and even joint replacements will tell you that their pain and symptoms increase or worsen when the weather changes, particularly for the worse. But why and how? Basically, we still don’t know because research is sparse and studies are small. But here are the possibilities supported by what little research there is.

Causes of Increased Pain when weather changes for the worse:
1. Barometric Pressure Change
2. Temperature Change
3. Reduced Physical Activity
4. Lack of Sun (not an old wives tale)
5. Vitamin Deficiency (especially D)
7. Strong belief that weather affects pain and therefore it does 😳🤔

Each and/or all of the above affect in a small way:
1. Tissue and joint mobility
2. Nerve sensitivity
3. Joint fluid consistency
4. Mood
5. Tissue healing
6. Sleep patterns.

What can you do at home?
1. Drink a large glass of water, when you wake up, at each meal, mid morning and mid afternoon.
2. Warm baths, showers and or heating pads (with care) for chronic conditions.
3. Light to moderate exercise 20- 30 minutes each day if possible. (Stationary bike or indoor pool work well on rainy days)
4. Eat healthily and well, don’t skip meals.
5. Supplement with Vitamins as needed and recommended by your physician.
6. Practice relaxation and/or meditation techniques to reduce stress.
7. Get 7 to 8 hours of sleep each night.
8. Take medications as prescribed.
9. And when the sun comes out again, get 15 minutes exposure per day - not even kidding 😊 (with your dermatologist’s permission, of course). Try it and see how you feel!

Come to Physical Therapy for a check up, review of your exercises and/or a reevaluation if it’s been awhile! Call us for a 15 min free consultation if you want to know how we can help.
