Working on the PowerPoint for the kissing spine zoom class and thought I would share this slide.

There are common misconceptions and misunderstandings about the difference between pain and nociception.
Understanding how each works and why they are not the same is the key to changing Nociception into proprioception.

We know that perceived pain can consistently predict autonomic responses over and above objective noxious stimulation. Meaning the anticipation of pain will already generate pain.

While nociception refers to neural encoding of impending or actual tissue damage (i.e., noxious stimulation), pain refers to the subjective experience of actual or impending harm. So not the same thing.

As long as nociception stays in the brain stem it is just information, its when it goes up to the cortex that it becomes pain.
Once in the cortex it becomes learned behavior and pain can be triggered by stress and anticipation of pain no tissue damage required.

Woot this is gonna be so great 👇🏻
Riding ,body work, assessment all laid out all put together for horse and rider .
One shop stop to get all the answers and make the change.

I have something very exciting in the works!!! More details to be announced soon, but stay tuned for a combined clinic with myself and Tami Elkayam Equine Bodywork
“Tensegrity Through Motion” - taking the concepts of tensegrity and biomechanics applied to riding.

If you know me, you know how important diagonal balance is.
If you know Tami, you know the concept of tensegrity :

the characteristic property of a stable three-dimensional structure

Essentially, we both present to you a whole body and mind approach to balance in movement, wherein the whole body participates and moves in synchrony, creating a happy, peaceful and sound horse.

May 25-26 2024 in Chino Valley, Arizona. Details to book coming soon. This clinic will be limited to 8 riders and 20 auditors. Riders will recieve tons of personal help and plenty of insight.
An informative and interesting combination of classroom and applied riding theory, to create sound movement based in actual fact- create a happy horse who moves harmoniously and without restriction.

I can’t wait to bring this very exciting way of riding and thinking to help you and your horse flourish!

In the morning
After taking cold shower
—-what a mistake—-
I look at the mirror.

There, a funny guy,
Grey hair, white beard, wrinkled skin,
—-what a pity—-
Poor, dirty, old man,
He is not me, absolutely not.

Land and life
Fishing in the ocean
Sleeping in the desert with stars
Building a shelter in the mountains
Farming the ancient way
Singing with coyotes
Singing against nuclear war—
I’ll never be tired of life.
Now I’m seventeen years old,
Very charming young man.

I sit quietly in lotus position,
Meditating, meditating for nothing.
Suddenly a voice comes to me:
“To stay young,
To save the world,
Break the mirror.”
