The Celtic sabbaths fall on liminal times. Each turn of the wheel, a window opens.
Some celebrate Beltane every year on April 30th/ May 1st.
Others follow the Coligny Calendar, while some others remember that the turning of the wheel happens at the exact halfway between solstices and equinoxes.
Whatever works for you is right.
For me, I listen to the land on these liminal times. And today, May the 5th in California, halfway between the solstice and the equinox, a warmer wind is blowing. Birds are singing with a little more confidence. Flowers are opening up, proud, and ready to receive. The trees are releasing more pollen and dance into the gentle warm breeze of a new beginning. The land is awakening and the May Queen is rising.

Tonight is St Brigid’s eve so don’t forget to leave a cloth or scarf outside to be blessed by the saint as she passes. Known as a ‘Bratog Bride’ in Irish folklore, this special garment can then be used as a cure for headaches or sore throats.
