The loss of trust in a relationship can be experienced the same way one experiences a physical loss. Grieving the loss of trust can very much look like denial, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptance. The hurt partner may or may not experience them all and may even spin the block on some. Because the reality is, in the aftermath of an affair, they are questioning everything they believed to be true about the relationship, their partner, and themselves.
