Healing Springs Institute Helping people with chronic illnesses and depression and anxiety stop struggling and find happiness and fulfillment again

Hi Friends,

I would appreciate your feedback. I coach people who are in emotional pain, but my website--"emotionalpaincoaching.com"--doesn't get much traffic. I'm wondering if the you think my website name is boring, and if the name "lifesuckscoaching.com" would be more likely to get the attention of people I can help.

Thanks!

Thomas

Can a person have too much faith?

Can a person have too much faith? I have been supporting and giving suggestions to someone who has many serious health challenges, including osteoporosis, rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, and restless leg syndrome. She had a horrific childhood: her father beat her for the most minor transgressions, and the beatings continued until she was 15. And while her father died some years ago, her mother has not expressed love for her daughter in years, probably because she is incapable of doing so.

I have no doubt that there is a connection between all the physical and emotional trauma the woman I'm helping has experienced and the illnesses she is struggling with.

She has been devoutly religious her whole life, and she continues to rely on her faith in God to get her through difficult times. But I suspect that she is relying on it instead of getting fully in touch with, and then healing, the deep emotional wounds that anyone who had gone through what she had would have. I say that knowing full well how painful getting in touch with those wounds will be, but having a strong sense that it is a neccesary step in the healing process.

Your thoughts? Am I right, or do you think I'm off track? And have you been relying too much on your faith?

In my last post, I wrote that in her session with me, my former client, who was a very depressed woman, stopped pretending that her life wasn't as awful as it actually was. And when she did that, she felt more hopeful than she had in a long time.

In that post, I wrote that I would tell you how you can use how bad your life is to make it better. What you can do, and I learned this from my own life, is, if your life—or parts of it—are awful, is to get angry at how bad it is. Doing that can be very helpful because there are ALWAYS things we can do to make our lives better, and getting angry frees up stuck feelings and energy. And we can use that energy to do those things. Your mileage may vary, but I have found that a curse word or too, such as “This is cr #*!” can help motivate me to take positive action.

Let me add a caution: if you do this, please use your anger to make your life better, and do not take it out on others.

I'm going to start adding to this page several times a month, not because of a 2015 New Year's resolution. Rather, it's because of a desire and a need to share my ideas and passion for helping people taking really good care of themselves, especially when they are sick or in physical or emotional pain.

In a blog post from almost five years ago, I wrote about a client who had been living with pain for six years, had a bad marriage, had serious money problems, and didn't get along with the owner of the small company she worked for. In spite of all those problems, what she discovered in a coaching session with me was that it was pretending that her life wasn't as awful as it actually was that was causing her the most distress. She stopped doing that, and finally acknowledged how bad her life was. And by the end of the session, she told me she couldn't remember feeling so hopeful.

In my next post, I will say more about how you can use how bad your life is to make it better. Stay tuned.

In the title of this post, I ask if your liver is feeling unappreciated. But that’s not exactly what I meant. The real question I want to ask you is, do any of your organs and body parts that are affected by your illness feel unappreciated? But there wasn’t enough room in the title to ask that, so I…

What I’m going to tell you in this post may not seem like it can help you live better with a chronic illness. But as I will explain shortly, it can. And between now and when I tell you how, my intention is to entertain you with a story.

Happy New Year! Here's my December 31st post to my Living Your Best Possible Life When You Have a Chronic Illness blog. Its title is "An Awful Christmas Present." http://www.chronicillnesscoach.com/blog/

Having coached people who have a wide range of chronic illnesses for over 10 years now, I have a pretty good idea of what it is like to live with them.

I’m going to start out this post by asking you a favor, which is to please bear with me while I explain why I titled this post How Good a Racecar Driver are You?

A recent blog post: How "Watching" a movie can help you live a better life - http://www.chronicillnesscoach.com/blog/?p=659

I’m sure you’ve noticed that as you watch a movie, you find yourself caring about the protagonist because of the hardships she (or he) goes through. And you identify with her struggles, disappointments, and pain, and silently root for her to overcome her challenges, fulfill her mission, and realize…

This is a long post, but if you are suffering from a chronic illness or know someone who is, you may find it very helpful.

I've been thinking... What really frustrates me the most is that I don't get to help all the people I know I can. So I've been thinking about how I can help more people.

It's also frustrating to me that not everyone understands the value of coaching. You know you get a coach if you're on the football team, and you probably know you can have a coach if you're a high level business executive. But having a coach for your illness sounds kind of silly.

But I'm the life coach for when your life doesn't look like what you want it to. I'm not here to coach you about your illness. I'm here to coach you about your life, and how you can feel better - and even great!

And I get that that's something you're skeptical about and have doubts that it can work for you. I know it's hard to imagine that you can feel better than you do right now. I've been there!

The thought of someone telling you they can coach you to feel better may sound farfetched at best. I get that. When my Crohn's disease was not in remission - and with all the pain, the almost relentless fatigue, the night sweats, the trips to doctor after doctor after doctor, ...well, I wouldn't have believed me either.

But after doing this for 10 years, after helping with people with debilitating and sometimes terminal illnesses, I see the difference it makes. A high majority of the people I've worked with are doing a whole lot better, and many of them are loving their lives. And I realize that probably sounds crazy and impossible.

So what I'm going to do is this: I'm going to prove to you that you can get back control of your life and feel a lot better than you do right now through coaching - even if you can't control your illness. And I'm going to offer you that coaching for free for 21 days.

Your going to have a place where you can come and tell it like it is; tell us how much it sucks right now. The place where we'll meet will be a private, invitation only Facebook group.

There will be exercises to do and videos to watch. It's not going to take up a lot of your time - just 10 to 15 minutes a day. All you have to do is to commit to follow this process for 3 weeks and see if it makes a difference.

If where you are right now sucks, what have you got to lose? My promise to you is that I will give you the same coaching I would give to someone who was paying me.

You deserve to have a great life, illness or no illness. This group can help you have it. It's going to be a safe space, and a small group, which will allow you to connect with and support and be supported by others.

I will be offering this course for a fee in the future. I'm offering it this time for no cost to the first 30 people who sign up. It will start on Wednesday, June 5th, but you will be able to chat with me and the other participants as soon as you sign-up and join the group.

Everyone who signs up after the course is full will be put on a waiting list.

If this is something that sounds like it could help you, just go to

You are just a few steps and 21 days away from getting back control of your life and feeling a lot better. To sign up, enter your information in the boxes below, and any comments or questions, and click on submit.
