As an official ambassador for International Fraud Awareness Week, VA requests that all Veteran advocates join the fraud fighters’ effort to protect Veterans. Prevent fraud with the tips below:
• Screen emails carefully, and only open emails from senders you know and trust. Be wary of emails or texts demanding personal details or directing you to external websites that are not part of va.gov.
• Use trusted payment methods: Requests for payments via wire transfers, bitcoin, prepaid debit cards, money transfers, or gift cards are signs of a scam. VA does not use these payment methods.
