Conscious BREATHING for health

How important is Breathing well? VERY! If we don’t breathe- we’re dead in 4-10 minutes. Yet do we even think about it? Is our breathing shallow or deep? Are our lungs in constriction? Is stress affecting our breath?

Food and Water must mix with Oxygen to create energy. If any of these factors are missing, we erode our ability to function optimally. The energy equation is low in the oxygen factor. We must not forget to be aware of this piece because just this awareness can trigger a powerful solution- conscious breathing.

Noticing shallowness in your breath- inhale deeply a few times to reset.
Sensing stress- take a few deep breathes then activate the vagus nerve with a minute of conscious breathing by inhaling to the count of 4 and exhaling to a long count of 6. This can bring you into a state of relaxation- into parasympathetic mode.

Many breathing methods are available to support our wellness. Yoga and ayurvedic meditation use pranayamas (name for ancient breath techniques in India) to augment healing benefits. Qi gong is an ancient Chinese breathing exercise to connect to your innate wellbeing. Dr. Andrew Weil’s 4-7-8 breathing technique relaxes the body and increases lung capacity.
Options abound. But until you’re ready to explore these options- Just Breathe- Deeply into your being and know that each inhalation connects you to the life giving force in the universe.

WHAT VITAMINS/SUPPLEMENTS ARE YOU TAKING? and when was the last time you addressed what you need at this time in your life?

I recently revisited, for my own health, what nutrients a woman my age needs daily. Optimally we get these through foods but is that realistic on a daily basis? The short answer is no. This is where supplements come in.
