Phoenix Rising Massage Therapy I am a CA State Certified Massage Therapist, CMT #81698, who specializes in working with trauma of all kinds. I have dealt with and healed through much myself!

Well, this has been a long time coming...!!! It all started when my Mom decided to follow her dream and attend Massage School way back in 1988-1989. I was just 13 years old, but her choice had a profound effect on me and opened a whole new door for me in so many ways. Specializing in Sports Massage to begin with, my Mom went to many sporting events to practice her craft with elite athletes, including the famous IRONMAN competition in Kailua-Kona, Hawai'i. She even volunteered her services at many of my sporting events in High School - Football, Water Polo, Swimming, and Crew/Rowing. Consequently, she was able to help me through several sports injuries across these different sports. I was also introduced to a whole new world when I participated my first energy healing experience at just 16 years old. It was a workshop that my Mom was attending in Topanga Canyon and they needed an extra "body" for the second day, so I was volunteered. Well, my Third Eye was completely blown open and the instructor had to help ground me so I didn't pass out. We discussed energetic boundaries and grounding the whole drive home. Back then, I attended several energetic and specialized modality classes with my Mom [Energy Healing training (04/1992), Thai Massage (08/1992), Energy Touch Therapy/Psychogenic Healing Process (01/1993). I also attended many workshops and experienced some modalities living and working at Esalen Institute for two years (1997-1999) as a Work Scholar and Extended Student (1 year position), wherein I worked as one of the Chefs. I received a training in Spiritual Massage from one of my mentors, Maria Lucia Bittencourt Sauer (04/1998). In addition, I participated in a Jahara Aquatic Bodywork class at Harbin Hot Springs (11/1999) - 8 months after my near-death, drowning experience for which I am famous for at Esalen to this day. I was rescued from the cove at Esalen by a Coast Guard helicopter and a CHP Officer in a wetsuit, who put me in the basket while unconscious due to hypothermia and exhaustion. Like one of the nurses said when I had regained consciousness and function in the hospital, it was like I had just run 50 miles! Esalen was also where I really started to learn and understand Astrology. I had already received a reading years prior, which was a truly profound experience! So, when I was at Esalen, I posted my chart on the wall next to my bunk and would reflect my experiences into the chart. I also participated in a two-week "staff" course led by resident Astrologer, Silvia Guersenzvaig, which brought on a whole new reality. I have continued to study astrology and provide these services as well (https://www.facebook.com/ACMN75/). So now, almost 30 years later, I am finally getting back to my roots of care for myself and others, energetic sensitivity, healing modalities, and bodywork... I recently graduated from the 500 hr. Massage Therapist program at the California Holistic Institute (CHI), right here in San Luis Obispo (07/2019), which I started in (09/2018). And, I am registered as a CA State Certified Massage Therapist (CMT) with the California Massage Therapy Council (CAMTC # 81698). I specialize in working with trauma of all kinds. I have experienced much myself, having had multiple near-death experiences (NDE's), surgeries, and physical injuries; as well as emotional and psychologically trying times throughout my life. I have been fortunate to find my way through deeply challenging life circumstances and events, sometimes receiving great support and sometimes experiencing utter abandonment and betrayal. Healing all these wounds can be a process, but certainly a worthwhile endeavor despite the hardships! The whole situation was unfair. He was only 8 months old when he stepped into an illegal trap that would cost him one of his front legs.

I cried for him.
I cried for the loss of his limb.
I cried for the injustice of it all.

But he did none of that…

When he woke up from his amputation surgery, he immediately tried to stand. It took him a matter of seconds to realize that the limb wasn’t there and to adjust his weight accordingly so he could still move around.

He didn’t sulk.
He simply adjusted.

In the coming weeks, he taught himself how to dig, hunt and run all over again. Even with only three limbs, he passed all necessary tests for release back into the wild. Up until then, it was assumed that foxes in rehab in our state would not survive in the wild after an amputation. I was thankful the state allowed me the opportunity to test that theory.

He was named Phoenix and he taught us far more than we ever taught him.

We will all experience loss in our lives. Some of those losses can make us move forward in life feeling unwhole. Maybe it’s a break up, the loss of a job or a dream that just didn’t turn out how we hoped it would.

Phoenix taught me that healing doesn’t mean what’s missing comes back. It means we have adjusted. We have shifted as needed to push forward - to persevere.

We are not defined by our losses, but by our strength, our endurance and all we are willing to conquer and overcome. We are forged through the fire.

Given that October's Promotion was for our AstroCosmology (Astrology) services, we wanted to take this opportunity to let you know that we shall be hosting a Current Transits astrology class on Monday, October 27 at 6pm at our Studio in Santa Margarita. We are actually planning to host such a class each month to go along with the Current Transit Videos I have been doing since May 2025. As you know, we offered a 20% discount for our AstroCosmology services for the month of October, so there's still time to book an Astrology class, workshop, and/or reading.
