BR4MH Bike Ride for Men's Health The BR4MH stands for Bike Ride for Men’s Health on Nov. 18-22nd from the Golden Gate Bridge to Santa Monica Pier to raise money for Movember!

I will be turning 30 this November. My goal is to celebrate this milestone birthday by toasting to my health as well as to the health of all men! Back in 2011 some friends turned me onto this Movember organization and suggested I get involved by growing a mustache. I happen to be blessed with the ability to quickly grow facial hair so I had a lot of fun with this challenge. But in 2012 I spent a little more time looking into what Movember stood for and what its goals were. It is all about bringing awareness to men’s health issues. I realized that I was a typical guy that avoided going to the doctor at all costs. I didn’t have health insurance and spent very little time concerning myself with taking good care of my body. I decided to make a change. I found myself putting down the beer can, not lighting up a cigarette, eating those fattening desserts – and instead I went for long hikes, going to the gym and drinking fresh juices. My first real challenge came from my younger brother who suggested competing in an upcoming Tough Mudder (a grueling 13 mile obstacle course). I began to train hard for the next 9 months. In conjunction with my new-found health goals I decided to take on Movember as my pet charity. In 2013 I was able to raise almost $1,000 for the charity, won the Mr. Movember Contest and became “The Mustache Guy” amongst my friends and family. Now it’s time for the 2014 Movember festivities and I am upping my challenge to myself. I would like to become the biggest donor in Movember history and to do that I have put together the first annual BR4MH ….

A finally thank you to everyone who made this event possible. It was a test of mental strength & physical endurance. There were many times that I wanted to quit and give up. Many times that the heated seats would have been gladly traded for the pouring rain and cold wind. For those who are interested I have listed the stats below.

Total Miles: 472.57
Total Ride time: approx...42 hours 5 mins.
Total Time: 83.5
Elevation Ft/gain: 27,509
Cal. Burned: 30,000

Also, I am a few hundred dollars away from getting into the top 100 of Movember fundraisers. If you have some change to spare feel free to donate at mobro.co/br4mh

They will tally up the total December 6th so make sure to get them in before that.

It's that excitement of Christmas Eve and sneaking out to catch a glimpse of Kris Kringle. Like the first time you catch some air on a BMX bike. The nervousness you had with your first kiss. The first time you experienced love. The excitement the first time the coach throws you in the game. The dry sweats you have the first time presenting to a big crowd. This is what we live for. Let the journey begin!
