Link in bio! Check out my featured article on determining the correct level of care for clients in the new InSession issue! Educating yourself on levels of care is so important for client success and yet it’s something many providers need further education on. Admittedly when I first was exoploring my current role I had to look up what PHP and IOP stood for. No I’m not kidding and I’m only a little embarrassed to admit it. Now I feel confident in speaking to the needs of clients and how each level of care works to meet those needs.

Coasting

When you’re riding a bike and you’re either hoofing it to the top of a hill telling yourself ‘you got this’ or coasting down the other side telling yourself ‘you did it’. When you get to the flat road, I often meet it with gratitude. Take a break, enjoy the breeze.

But how do you keep momentum going while you’re on a flat road? I often find myself thinking about this concept as it relates to professional development. I feel my best while I’m working toward a goal, and when I’m enjoying the feeling of success immediately following (assuming I reach the goal).
When I’m left on a flat road for too long, I run the risk of getting too comfortable. I get restless wondering when the next hill will come. Now maybe I’m addicted to the validation of reaching milestones but that’s a story for another day…

What do you do to keep yourself motivated? Lately I’ve been working on projects and goals outside of my daily work tasks- offering online individual therapy and working toward offering continuing education courses (just waiting on an application review 😉). It helps me fill any spare time I have and keeps me looking forward for potential opportunities. What do you think, do we need to stop and enjoy the flat road a little longer?
