We’re DONE breastfeeding 🤱😱 It was a longggg 19 months (I still cannot believe it lasted that long!) and I have a lot of mixed emotions 🥺 but it’s starting to feel like a new beginning 🌟
I got a lot of Q’s so I’m going to try to answer/share how it happened— please note I am not a lactation consultant and I can only share my experience 👏🏼 I also did an IGTV w/ that’s worth watching if you’re a weaning mama!
Ok here’s a little outline:
• I’ve been trying/wanting to wean for 6+ months. When I finally had a weekend away, I didn’t bring a pump and Blake doesn’t ever take a bottle so I was thinking it would be the end.
• side note- Ayla and Rosie both supplemented with formula around 3-4 months and I totally ran out of milk around 10 months. I never had to wean.
• Blake was only nursing once a day (usually before dinner when she was tired) I didn’t even think there was even any milk coming out… but there was.
• So anyways I get back from my trip and Blake didn’t miraculously forget about BF. After a 3 day break, I nursed on Sunday… And then again on Monday… and Tuesday.
• But then Wednesday came and she didn’t ask. Same thing Thursday and again on Friday 😳 Normally she asked in the afternoon/evening and on days when she was extra tired she would ask multiple times
• All along I had been trying to use the distraction method. When she asked for it, I would offer a snack, her binky, a toy, literally anything to try and shift her attention.
• She did ask for it a couple times on Sunday and I was able to distract her. But then it sank in and I got a little weepy 💔😭 Why is this so emotional ?!!
• my b***s her a bit over the last few days, different then I was expecting. I hand expressed a couple times and it helped. (Reminder, I never really had a surplus of milk! But obviously enough that I need to express)
• And now here we are! Going on a week without BF! It feels pretty dang good 😁
Did I forget anything?! Any other BF questions? How long did you breastfeed for??
