I know, we want to be able to store some milk just in case for any situation! I would strongly advise against using formula just to freeze some in the fridge. Let’s first try making sure we have tried what we can to store milk in different ways! Like increasing supply with different methods (:

Today I had the privilege of holding this amazing little human that has joined an amazing family that invited me into one of the most sacred times and spaces of their lives. I bet you have noticed I have been away from social media. I have never marketed myself to be a content creator or a birth guru. What I love and live for is the opportunity to hold space for birthing families, to build and be community. May I never take this work for granted. Welcome to the world little one! You are so blessed and such a blessing!

Tell your elected officials that you want access to midwifery care!

🚨 TAKE ACTION 🚨 to ensure birth centers and midwifery-led care are accessible to more people! With just a few clicks, request that your U.S. Representative and Senators sign on as co-sponsors of the BABIES Act (H.R.3337/S1716) and the Midwives for Moms Act (H.R.3352/S.1697).

-The BABIES Act would promote accessible and affordable use of freestanding birth centers by Medicaid beneficiaries.
-The Midwives for Moms Act would provide funding to educate more midwives and diversify the midwifery workforce.

Your voices will make the difference in getting these two bills passed to increase access to evidence-based midwifery care in birth centers, reduce the number of maternity care deserts, save millions in healthcare costs, and improve maternal and infant health.

Day 2 of World Breastfeeding Week. Breastfeeding is absolutely natural but it is FAR from easy. It requires great sacrifice of our physical body, our time, our energy, our sleep, and contrary to a common narrative, it does require money. Every feeding, every pump session, every clogged duct, every oz of milk cost us something. No matter how long or short your lactation/breastfeeding journey is, your baby will get 100% of the benefit. For many of us it is absolutely worth it! For those of you still on your journey, I hold space for you and celebrate your sacrifice. For those who have ended their journey, I salute you and celebrate what you have accomplished!

Representation matters! Cultural Awareness matters! Cultural Competency matters!

This is how racial bias shows up and wreaks havock. The nurse should have asked the mom why she was hitting her head. But instead she made assumptions and ordered a psych consult. 🤦🏾‍♀️ This is how black and brown families are victimized by the MIC.

What my recovery looks like after attending a birth. Lots of sleep 😴 watching tennis and lots of coffee. Teaching a class 3 tonight with some amazing parents! Fun fact: I am a 🎾 nerd!

Just supported an amazing HypnoBirthing Family! Everytime I support a family in their birth I am reminded how powerful, capable, and beautiful the laboring and birthing body is. It was a privilege and an honor!
