Starting to feel like I’m making some progress! Workout felt much better yesterday, and I’m up to 180lbs.

Still progress to be made. I’m still not close to touching the same weights I was before, and my recovery sucks. Before I had Covid, after about a minute of rest after a set my heart rate would be down below 100. Now, after 2-3 minutes I’m still above 120.

I know it will be a long and slow process to get back where I was, but I’m excited to start seeing some progression.

Today’s is a little different. I got really sick with Covid-19 and it lasted almost 3 weeks. I lost 17lbs. In those 3 weeks there were multiple days where I couldn’t get out of bed, days where I couldn’t keep food or water down, days where I didn’t want to eat, and a trip to the ER.

I’m so grateful to be feeling close to 100%. Now the comeback starts. Yesterday was my first day back in the gym. It was challenging, and the weights were a lot heavier. But it was honestly not as bad as I thought it would be. Time to comeback stronger than ever.

I’ll be posting more here on my journey back to health and strength. This is the first major setback I have encountered since taking control of my fitness 4 years ago. Any words of encouragement and motivation are appreciated!

Still putting in the work


Are gyms open in your area? I guess I’ve been pretty lucky here, mine has been open since late April. They are taking extra precautions, but I’ve been going 5x per week since then and I’ve managed to stay healthy.

Sometimes the trail you’re on doesn’t lead where you hoped it would. Sometimes you have to dig deep to keep moving and make your own trail. Don’t be afraid to take the trail less traveled, most times that’s where the greatest reward lies.

Mount Baldy - 11,057 ft

I went up Sugarloaf first, and after coming down I almost skipped the extra trip across the ridge to summit Mount Baldy. I was already tired and it was starting to get hot. I convinced myself to do it anyway, and I’m glad I did. Most of the awesome things in life are not easy. We have to push ourselves outside of our comfort zones if we want to experience those things!

has claimed another victim....I’m officially DOWN 15lbs from Feb 2020. 204 ➡️ 189.

What did I do? Small changes really.
1. Started training more athletically. Olympic lifts, jump rope, plyometrics. I made sure to work abs everyday.
2. Stayed in my calorie goal. Even if I wanted to enjoy some I would plan for it. I still eat 3k cals per day.
3. Made sure to hit my protein goal. For me that was at least 200g per day. I also tried to hit my other macro goals, but I was more flexible with fat and carbs.
4. I STOPPED MAKING EXCUSES.

Don’t be afraid to chase the things in life that you want. The things that really matter, the things that are worth the fight, will always require the most from us. They will require us to posses the value of ho’omau.

It’s hard to start a journey when you aren’t sure of what the destination is.


Decide today where you want to go and what you want to achieve! Once you know where it is you want to go, you can map out your journey, set realistic goals, and measure your progress. The only way to get real results is to begin with the end in mind! So stop waiting for tomorrow, pick a destination today and get on that train to success!
