Finding Peace in Chaos
What are you doing to keep the peace in your household as well as your mind? Are you allowing fear to take over your day? Are you finding it hard to sleep? Are you worried about your jobs or businesses?
Now more then ever, it's important to put yourself on a regimen that will help boost your immune system, keep your mind calm and help you sleep. In the text below, I've written a few simple things to include in your day that will start to create peace of mind, build your immune system and to keep you calm.
1. Meditate everyday no matter what. If you're new to meditation, now is the perfect time to start. YouTube has a ton of wonderful meditations and there are also many apps you can download on your phone. Search for the type of meditation you would like and the amount of time you would like to meditate for. (For ex: 30-minute meditation for releasing stress.) If you are experiencing a lot of fear at this time, then you might want to meditate several times a day. Start your day with mediation before you get out of bed.
2. Get outside and get some Vitamin D and walk, walk, walk. This is vital for your health and will build your immune system, help you de-stress, get in shape, and will help with depression. If you are able, you should walk a minimum of 60 minutes everyday, rain or shine. If you are like most of us, I bet your food consumption has gone way up and walking will help. When you’re done walking, put your bare feet in the dirt or the grass for 20 minutes. This will help ground you.
3. Stay away from flour and sugar and drink plenty of water. Flour and sugar weaken your immune system as well as wreak havoc on your brain and organs. If you are experiencing any anxiety, depression, inflammation, brain fog, and or weight gain then put down the flour and sugar and pick up the water. It is important to watch what you are putting into your bodies during this chaotic time. Try and stick to fruits, veggies, and meats with only healthy fats.
4. Keep a schedule. Be sure to keep a daily schedule for yourself. Meditation should be the first thing on your list and plan our your entire day. If you are not working, fill your day with creative things like music, exercise, reading, personal development and personal projects. If you are still working, then be sure to make time for all of these things. It will make such a difference in your daily mind set. Be sure to limit your news, TV, and social media. There is a lot of negativity going on right now. Create your own space and your own environment of love and peace. Be sure to give yourself some down time and give yourself a break. If you need a day of doing nothing, then plan it and get right back up the next day and get into your groove.
5. Get plenty of sleep. If you are not sleeping, then it's time to try a bunch of things until something works. Here are a few suggestions. Start with putting yourself down at your normal bedtime without watching any TV from your bed. Add some deep breathing for 20-minutes and or do a sleep mediation. It also helps to not eat any food 3 hours before bedtime so your body can fully rest. There are also plenty of herbs that will help with sleep. I take sleepy time tea, melatonin, as well as a few other herbs.
6. Get creative. Time to let your creativity soar. This may be hard for some but is not impossible. Include lots of music throughout your day. Try dancing, coloring, painting, learning an instrument, singing, gardening, dressing up, and writing. Creativity will give your energy and will also bring in some happiness.
7. Spread Love. Instead of judging your friend or neighbor for not following the protocol of proper social distancing, send them a bubble of love. Instead of getting angry that your presidential candidate wasn't selected, send them love. Instead of being mad at your company for laying you off, send them love. Instead of being mad at people hoarding toilet paper, send them love. We are all in this together. The most powerful solution to everything happening in and around you is to give and to receive love. Love yourself and each other.
