From - Recent public pronouncements have proclaimed a “new” energy vision for New York, but what has been presented is nothing more than a myopic view of the future. An “all-of-the-above” energy strategy, for example, is nothing more than an embrace of continued reliance on burning fossil fuels (in clear violation of New York’s widely respected Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act, or “Climate Law”) and promotion of the most expensive way to generate electricity — nuclear reactors.

Instead, New York should return to policies that make sense economically and are feasible in both the short term and the long term, emphasizing affordability while acting within the scientific consensus on climate. Implementing the Climate Law accordingly will save money- and save lives. Social media post and fact sheet attached.

Please begin call-ins to the Governor to ensure proper implementation of the Climate Law. 518-474-8390

“Hello, my name is __________ and my zipcode is _______. I am calling to urge the Governor to address the destructive practices of the fossil fuel industry that continue to make our energy bills skyrocket and harm our communities and public health by following the timelines and benchmarks set out in the Climate Law. Implementing the Climate Law accordingly will save money and save lives. Thank you!”

On Monday, I testified to the NY City Council that they should adopt the following bills regarding our beloved immigrant community, the forever backbone of this city. 🗽🗽🗽 Most people probably think many of these laws are already in place, but they’re not and some agencies are shamefully taking advantage of that.
[The same forces that are stealing our public lands and polluting our poorest communities and all of us in the name of billions or trillions of dollars. It’s all !]

If you live in NYC, I encourage you to call your council member and tell them you support these measures:
◻️Intro 1412: This bill would bar federal immigration authorities from maintaining offices or quarters, for any purpose, on land over which the New York City Department of Correction (DOC) exercises jurisdiction, explicitly superseding any conflicting mayoral executive order.
◻️Intro 0214: Would allow individuals held by the New York PD, the DOC, and the Department of Probation to bring an action alleging a violation of the detainer laws in any court of competent jurisdiction.
◻️Intro 1268: Would require the commissioner of the Mayor’s Office of Immigrant Affairs (MOIA) to develop signage that clearly describes immigrant legal protections, and clearly identify examples of nonpublic areas of city property and list the rights individuals may invoke when interacting with federal immigration authorities (in plain language and translated).
◻️Intro 1272: Would prohibit employers from using E-Verify or any other employment eligibility verification system to check the work authorization status of employees and job applicants who have not been offered employment, except when federally required.

Thank you and many others for bringing these bills forward, and ALL those that offered deeply powerful testimony about what we are doing to our fellow humans under this cruel administration.

New coverage on our plea to to Repeal the 100 foot Rule. This is the one crumb environmental advocates and activists got last legislative session thru the NY state government, after Gov Hochul threatened to veto the plastic packaging reduction bill, the rest of the NY heat act, pausing the All electric building act, lagging on the CLCPA, and going full speed ahead on AI and data centers and approving a fracked gas pipeline. But it’s an important crumb. This one decision will determine if our “Mom Governor” actually does things she says she’ll do to protect kids or is a Climate Criminal. We’re waiting….

GOVERNOR HOCHUL — It’s time to listen to all the Assembly Members (like ) and State Senators who supported and fought for the Repeal of the 100-foot Rule, and SIGN THE BILL, so that we can STOP 🛑 socializing costs (where New Yorkers bear both financial and health costs) and letting the oil and gas companies privatize the profits 🤑🤑. It’s time to work for the people and provide the affordability and clean environment we all deserve!! ☮️

Meet the new devil: Plastic

Big Oil knows its days are numbered as a source of inefficient, dirty, expensive energy.

So now it’s betting we’ll sell our souls for plastic, which is “cheap” because Big Oil doesn’t pay the massive costs to our bodies, health, land, water, air, and (still) climate.

(YET.)

The only way to deal with the plastic pollution crisis is for governments to pass strong laws which make the price of plastic reflect its true cost, which would enable sustainable materials and packaging to compete economically.

We could screenshot this whole article, but go ahead and read it yourself at

And follow to help fight the Big Oil plastic pollution crisis.

Our Willow Tree passed away on November 6, 2025 after a tempestuous wind storm. It meant so much to us and to our human and furry/feathery/scaley neighbors. Now I’m dealing with this grief 💔 but warmed by so many memories ❤️‍🔥🌳 Goodbye, your majesty! ✨

Me receiving a totally real award, a “Certificate of Award”, that definitely was not found in the trash during a waste audit. 🏆🏆🏆😆🙃🤣😜😁🤪🏆🏆🏆

Serious part—check out the 2nd slide. This was the food waste only from a set of 4 or so black trash bags during a company party, and it weighed almost 25 lbs. Black means it was headed for the landfill or incinerator.

Waste audits have some fun aspects (the people!!), but they are generally not pleasant (picking thru trash, on your feet the whole time, late nights). Still, I chose to continue to do them for a reason:
*So I am face to face with the excess of our culture…
So I never forget what I am fighting for.*

While there have been some successes around waste in NYC, seeing outcomes like this in buildings that provide recycling & composting means we still have so far to go. There were also so much that could have been recycled in those bags (like big plastic trays) and so much single use non-recyclable plastic (like plastic tablecloths) that could have been avoided or replaced with reusable alternatives.
Seeing this level of waste makes me wonder:
❓Why doesn’t this company’s culture look down on this?
❓What procedural elements could have been added to the party planning process that would have prevented this?
❓What kind of education would motivate the employees of this company to care and act accordingly?
❓Why is donating leftover food from corporate events still not meaningfully happening? What barriers can be removed for this to happen?
❓Do the employees who allowed this to happen understand that poor communities will breathe in the toxins from this waste being buried or burned?
❓What do the chief executives of this company think about waste? Does it align with their overall thoughts on efficiency? How can we help them connect the dots between being as efficient with waste as they are for their company’s bottom line?
❓Why are there no consequences for this wasteful behavior?
❓Why won’t legislators pass laws to outlaw this kind of waste on a company level? If not their constieunts, who do they really serve?

I know this is but one example, but we see this all the time, and it needs to be stopped.

A new investigative report by Little Sis, Strong Economy for All, and NY Renews reveals how fossil fuel corporations and utilities have poured nearly $16 million into lobbying since 2021 —  working with top NY lobbying firms with deep connections to the Hochul Administration 👀

Seventeen major polluters have increased their lobbying $$ since Hochul came into office, ensuring favorable policies that keep their profits high while New Yorkers struggle to pay their energy bills.

As fossil fuel lobbying soared, New York fell behind on the Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act, stalled its cap-and-invest program, and even approved new fossil fuel projects that will raise bills for working families.

New Yorkers deserve a government that puts people over polluters. Read the full report here and in bio: https://bit.ly/PolluterLobbyingNY

I was lucky to both share and learn at a panel called “Parenting in the Age of Climate Change”—literally one of the hardest things about modern life, made a bit softer in community with others who understand and organize to provide all children with a more hopeful future. 🫶🏽✌🏽💪🏽

I spoke about the joy of being in because I no longer had to choose between activism and spending time with my kids.
I also shared that parenting is relishing in my children’s pure sense of fairness/justice and problem solving that cuts thru adult’s manufactured obstacles. This began my own UNLEARNING—that No, it’s not naive, idealistic, or unrealistic to think a better world is possible. That we have to be able to dream it if we want to create it! As a parent, it’s my job to not add to that cynicism.
I learned about the gift of giving children
🎁 a values-based community,
🎁 the power of turning feelings into swift, bold action,
🎁 and how we can help process kids’ inevitable feelings of despair (because they will surely learn on their own about species going extinct, hurricanes ravaging communities globally, and the many other devastating impacts of climate change) and empower them to use their powerful voices to speak up at elected officials who promise to protect them!
🎁 An added bonus is giving children the BEST Civics education possible, because it’s civics in ACTION!!

Caretakers—We have to change this world. We simply HAVE TO. There is nothing a group of devoted moms or parents can’t do. Let’s tap into our deepest maternal and parental instincts…I truly believe they can overpower the vast wealth of those that seek to destroy their planet as, like, a fun game. The future is on the line.

If you’re a parent or caregiver in NYC or Westchester, consider joining .
If outside of those areas, reach out to start a local org by you. There’s so much to fight for everywhere!!

I’ll be on this panel and would love to see you there!!
Get • How do we talk to our children about climate change? How do we incorporate climate activism into the busy routine of parenting? How can we process our emotions in order to effectively respond to this threat?

This event will bring together parent leaders in the climate movement who are tackling these sorts of questions for an important and engaging discussion. They will also provide concrete ideas and resources for parents who want to take action with and for kids!

This event is presented in conjunction with the exhibition “Rooted Resistance: Art, Care and Environmental Activism,” examining the intersection of creative work, caregiving, and ecological advocacy, on view at the Old Stone House & Washington Park through January 11, 2026. Visitors will receive a brief introduction to the show and have an opportunity to meet some of the artists and curators. The exhibition is curated by and features work of select members of the Mother Creatrix Collective.
