Saying yes to everything is one of the fastest ways DJs burn out.

At first, it feels like momentum.

More shows.
More connections.
More opportunities.

But over time, it starts to catch up.

As a psychologist who works in the electronic music industry, this is one of the most common patterns I see.

When everything feels important, nothing gets the focus it needs.

Your energy drops.
Your decisions get harder.
And progress slows down.

The DJs who last don’t say yes to everything.

They learn what’s actually worth their time and energy.

If you’re building in this industry, this matters more than you think.

Avicii is the reason I fell in love with electronic dance music.

I still remember hearing Levels for the first time. It wasn’t just a song. It was a feeling. I can still listen to it over and over.

Over time, my connection to this music grew deeper…
and so did my understanding of what artists carry behind the scenes.

Losing Tim was heartbreaking.

And it’s a big part of what shaped my mission today:
to help artists build careers that are not only successful, but sustainable.

Even the word “Level” in my book, Level Up Your Influence, is a quiet nod to the song that started it all for me.

Visiting the Avicii Museum in 2025 was emotional, beautiful, and a reminder of both his impact and his humanity.

Today, on the anniversary of his passing, I’m thinking of him and the legacy he left behind.

Sending love to Tim's family, friends, and everyone who continues to carry his legacy forward 💛

Sometimes the biggest barrier in your career…
is waiting for someone else to believe in your vision.

In Episode 1 of .drop talks about making the decision to take control of his music and start his own label after not getting the support he was looking for.

Because at some point, the path forward isn’t about more waiting…it’s about ownership.

This is something so many artists run into:
Waiting for validation.
Waiting for the right opportunity.
Waiting for someone else to say yes.

But growth often starts the moment you decide to move without it.

A lot of DJs are constantly busy.

Working on music.
Posting on social media.
Planning releases.
Connecting with people.

But at the end of it…
nothing is actually moving forward.

As a psychologist who works in the electronic music industry, this is something I see all the time.

Being busy isn’t the same as making progress.

And over time, that’s what leads to feeling stuck.

If this sounds familiar, you’re not alone.

But it’s also something you can change.

A lot of DJs aren’t stuck because of talent.

They’re stuck because they wait too long.

To release tracks.
To send demos.
To put themselves out there.

Not because they don’t want it…

but because they’re overthinking, second-guessing, or waiting for the “right moment.”

As a psychologist who works in the electronic music industry, this is something I see all the time.

Momentum doesn’t come from waiting.

It comes from taking action before you feel fully ready.

If you’re trying to grow in this industry, this matters.

Most DJs are focused on what’s next.

The next show.
The next opportunity.
The next moment.

But that’s not what builds a career.

The ones who last start thinking differently.

As a psychologist who works in the electronic music industry, this is one of the biggest shifts I see.

They stop chasing what’s next…and start paying attention to how they’re building it.

That’s where everything changes.

If you’re building momentum right now, this matters more than you think.

Still taking in everything from the .drop launch party at Miami Music Week.

Grateful for every single person who showed up, supported, and brought the energy ✨

Whether we got a photo together or not, thank you for being part of it 🫶

Much love to the DJs who played, the friends who came out, and everyone who came through.

Moments like this are a reminder of why I love this community and am grateful to be a part of it.

This is just the beginning 💛

Most DJs don’t fail because they’re not good enough.

They stop when they feel like it's not working.

Not because they don’t want it…but because the rejection, the slow progress, and the uncertainty get to them.

That’s the part of this industry that isn’t talked about enough.

As a psychologist who works in the electronic music industry, this is one of the biggest patterns I see.

The artists who build real careers aren’t just talented.

They learn how to keep going when things aren’t moving yet.

If you’re still in it, still showing up, still pushing forward, you’re closer than you think.

“The only people who fail are the ones who quit.”

Simple…but not easy.

In an industry where rejection is constant, progress is unpredictable, and momentum comes in waves, the real challenge isn’t talent.

It’s staying in it long enough to succeed.

In Episode 1 of .drop talks about what it actually takes to keep going when things aren’t working the way you expected.

Because most artists don’t fail all at once.

They slowly stop showing up.
