Elements Massage workers, UFCW Local 7 and community leaders came together to fight worker retaliation and bad faith bargaining in front of the Elements Massage I-25/Hampden Denver location.
Of the many workplace issues at this store, Management illegally fired two workers for organizing and attempting to bargain a union contract, illegally took away workers healthcare in retaliation for union organizing and in violation of the law, threatened to sell the facility if workers continued steps to unionize, and has taken away tools and supplies needed for workers to do their jobs.

The National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) recently issued a complaint asserting that the two fired workers were unlawfully terminated.

I often get asked, “ I bet your hands get tired right?” And the answer to that question is actually no.

The proper and safe way to preform massage and have a lasting career is to have proper body mechanics. I use my elbow and forearm and the weight of my body to use deeper pressure. If I used my hands alone, my career would of ended a long time ago.

Deep tissue does NOT equal deep pressure. Everyone’s muscle tissue is so different and at different levels of tension. Sometimes it doesn’t take much to sink deep into muscle tissue. You don’t always need to feel intense pressure to get relief, sometimes that does the opposite. Trying to work adhesions (knots) and trigger points out of a muscle but using to much pressure can cause it to tense up therefore we are not making any progress.

Finding that perfect amount of pressure is key, I am very vocal on asking about pressure for this reason. Do not ever feel uneasy about asking your therapist to adjust pressure (especially if its hurting you!).
