The surprising link between ferritin and hair loss.
Here’s what’s happening …
When ferritin (your iron storage) runs low, your body goes into protection mode.
It redirects iron toward your red blood cells and organs to keep you alive.
Because your body is smart, it temporarily pauses what feels nonessential, like your hair growth. Organ function > hair.
Yes, it literally takes iron from the hair follicle when you don’t have enough stored iron. This = hair loss.
The good news? When your ferritin reaches that optimal 60–80 range, your body gets the green light to regrow hair.
Yes, your hair does regrow back.
If you’ve noticed fatigue, heavy periods, or more hair in your brush lately, it may be due to low ferritin levels.
This is where finding another shampoo or hair routine is NOT helpful and is missing the mark of what’s actually going on.
I absolutely LOVE helping women to regrow hair. It’s one of my favorite things to do with my patients.
