PTSD isn’t about being “stuck in the past.” It’s about a nervous system that learned to stay alert in order to survive.
When someone experiences trauma, the body and brain may continue responding as if danger is still present even when it’s not. This can show up as hypervigilance, emotional numbness, intrusive memories, or feeling disconnected from yourself or others.
Trauma-specialized therapy helps restore a sense of safety, regulation, and choice, allowing the nervous system to learn that the threat has passed. Healing doesn’t mean forgetting it means no longer having to relive it.

Emily’s approach to therapy is rooted in curiosity, mindfulness, and compassion toward each client’s symptoms and lived experiences. She believes healing happens when individuals feel supported in exploring their experiences with openness and care.
Emily has experience working with a variety of populations, including individuals navigating co-occurring substance use and mental health concerns. She values a holistic approach to care, integrating both top-down and bottom-up interventions in treatment.
Emily incorporates evidence-based modalities including CBT, DBT, EMDR, and Deep Brain Reorienting (DBR) to support clients in working toward their treatment goals and building a rich, meaningful, and connected life.
