✨ Vitex ≠ Progesterone (and that’s the point)
Vitex (chasteberry) doesn’t contain progesterone—and it doesn’t act like one either.
Instead, it works upstream, at the brain-ovary connection, to help your body make its own progesterone again.
Here’s how 👇
🧠 Vitex acts on dopamine receptors in the pituitary
⬇️ This lowers prolactin (even when it’s “high-normal”)
🔄 Lower prolactin restores proper LH signaling
🌕 Better LH signaling = a stronger corpus luteum
🌿 A stronger corpus luteum = higher natural progesterone
This is why Vitex can be helpful for:
• PMS
• Short luteal phases
• Low luteal progesterone
• Stress-related cycle disruption
• Breast tenderness
• “Estrogen dominance” symptoms
⚠️ Important nuance:
Vitex works best when ovulation is already possible. It’s not progesterone replacement and it’s not a menopause fix—it’s a neuroendocrine modulator.
⏳ Expect results over 2–3 cycles, not overnight.
✨ Bottom line:
Vitex doesn’t give progesterone—it teaches the brain to let the ovaries make it again.
If you’re not sure whether Vitex is right for you, labs and cycle data matter.
