Starting an estrogen patch? Let’s talk about the things women are often surprised by…
As a pharmacist, I’ve heard women say ‘Why didn’t I know this?’
✨Weight changes
Studies indicate that weight should not shift HOWEVER; some women notice weight gain or feel “puffy” after starting.
That doesn’t mean it’s not workin, but it does mean your body may need time, dose adjustments, or additional support.
This can be extremely surprising for some ladies!
✨The Adhesive
Yes… the stickiness is real.
It can leave residue, attract lint, or just feel annoying on the skin. It is a small detail, but one many women don’t expect.
A gentle oil like jojoba oil is perfect for removing adhesive after patch removal.
✨It can be helpful for some menopause symptoms but not all.
HRT may not fully help genitourinary symptoms like vaginal dryness, discomfort, or urinary symptoms often need local estrogen, not just systemic.
Be sure to talk to a medical professional for any support you may need.
Hormone therapy can be incredibly helpful but it’s not one-size-fits-all.
Save this if you’re starting (or thinking about) an estrogen patch and be sure to follow for more pharmacist bases information on feeling your best in menopause and beyond!
