❤️ Every heartbeat matters. ❤️

February 7–14 is Congenital Heart Defects (CHD) Awareness Week. CHDs are the most common type of birth defect, affecting nearly 1 in 100 births. One of the most important tools we use in out-of-hospital birth to ensure safety is the Newborn Pulse Oximetry Screening.

What is it? 🩺 It’s a painless, non-invasive test we perform 24 hours after birth. We place a small sensor on your baby’s hand and foot to measure how much oxygen is in their blood.

Why does it matter? 📈 This simple "pulse ox" test helps us detect critical heart issues that might not be visible to the naked eye. It’s a small step that ensures your baby gets the right care immediately.
