Looking back, I wish we would’ve discussed early in my mom’s diagnosis who would be in those inner/outer circles. Only a handful of people knew for the entire duration of her prognosis, and were shocked to learn of it when we posted she was in her final days. My mom didn’t want to worry others or be a burden, or have the demand of responding. Especially when she was in a constant exhaustion and excessive pain. However, I wonder if my mom’s mental health would’ve suffered as much from if she knew people were reaching out and offering support.

“There is nothing in life to be feared, only to be understood” - Marie Curie

Compared to many other cultures, Western culture is so reluctant and avoidant in addressing the end of life stage and passing of a loved one.

Because of this, many who have not experienced losing a loved one are lost on how to comfort someone who is grieving, or caring for the actively dying. There is a fear because it is unknown, and the thought of mortality can be unsettling.

We wrote a 3-part ebook as a how-to on navigating the end of life stages, to alleviate some uncertainty and unknowns.

The ebook featured is Part 1: Upon Diagnosis, which touches on the early phase of terminal illness. Included are worksheets, explained in the ebook.
We wrote it in hopes to serve and support you 💛

When a loved one is diagnosed with a life-limiting illness, emotions, demands, and concerns can multiply and swirl. It may be difficult to contemplate anything at that moment, or know how to proceed.

Ours was a rocky-road-ice-cream-dripping-down-the-cone, potato-salad-sitting-too-long-in-the-hot-sun-kind of journey. 🫠😩😱🫣🥴 Yikes.

While all end of life situations are not logical or linear, I hope that by sharing our perspective and personal experience, you and others can find the way through and have a more peaceful journey.

It is challenging to accept the new realities of your a loved one who has been terminally diagnosed. But then to add navigating the complexities of caregiving to the mix, and it’s like you’ve warped 10 levels and thrust into a different world.

There wasn’t an array of resources that retold situations and experiences from the perspective of familial caregiving. This would have been helpful to know what we should expect and assure us that we weren’t alone in the struggle.
Most of the info we researched was based on the knowledge of medical professionals.

And while having a professional’s insight was appreciated and vital, it it didn’t take into account the nuance and vulnerabilities of caring for a terminally ill a family member.
