This bathroom started in rough shape: moisture issues, outdated finishes and early signs of mold in a Seattle rental. The client wanted a modern, low‑maintenance bathroom and was specifically looking for a contractor who knew how to work with microcement.​



For our team at DueRight, this project was especially meaningful — it was one of our first full bathroom remodels finished with microcement, so we treated every step as a benchmark for future jobs!

White glossy tiles look stunning on Instagram, but here’s why they’re a terrible choice for bathroom floors:

👉🏻 Glossy surfaces reflect light beautifully, but they turn every water droplet, soap film, hair, dust particle, or crumb into a glaring spotlight. In a humid bathroom, floors stay damp, making streaks and buildup impossible to hide. Even the tiniest speck of debris becomes instantly visible, turning cleaning into a daily battle

👉🏻 Wet glossy tiles are dangerously slippery, especially risky for kids and seniors. Textured matte or porcelain with R10+ slip resistance keeps feet secure while hiding imperfections

💡 Better Alternatives
• Matte or textured white tiles for floors: practical, safe, low-maintenance.
• Save glossy white for walls where it shines without the slip hazard.
• Small mosaics around drains for perfect water flow.

This year we:
• Finished dozens of bathroom remodels, deck & exterior projects, and handyman jobs
• Tried new materials like microcement and tackled a few ‘one‑of‑a‑kind’ projects
• Drank a dangerous amount of good coffee and added a new van to the fleet
