Part of the way my ADHD shows up is eating the same thing (with variations) every day. It takes the struggle out of what to eat.
During the winter I have at least 3 kinds of plant based soup in the freezer that I can enjoy with avocado sourdough toast and a mandarin orange.
Just the Art of making soup-the chopping, stirring and infusing flavors of the herbs and spices into the vegetables is soothing and creative.
This is the start of the Hearty Tuscan White Bean Soup from that has been a staple now for years. My daughter says it tastes like Thanksgiving.

Let’s honor the people on our life that took time out of their lives and taught us skills that can last a lifetime.
I did needle work all thru my childhood. Then when I first got sober 23 years ago I picked up my needles again to keep myself grounded and my hands busy.
I am picking them up again as a quiet but powerful way of resistance.
It’s not about perfection.
Who would you like to honor?

I’ve been thinking a lot about how we’re told we should feel during difficult times.

But humans don’t experience emotions one at a time.
Grief and joy can exist together — and often need to.

What emotion are you holding alongside the hard ones right now?

Exhale.Drop your shoulders.Unclench your jaw.Take a breath with me.Right now, you are here.Right now, you are okay.

Exhale.
Drop your shoulders.
Unclench your jaw.

Take a breath with me.

Right now, you are here.
Right now, you are okay.

Hope can come in very small ways.

The tension in the world is real — and it takes courage to stay soft.

Mindfulness isn’t about disengaging from what’s happening.
It’s about staying grounded enough to respond with clarity, compassion, and strength.

Calm is not apathy.
Stillness is not weakness.

Caring for your nervous system is how you stay present, connected,
and able to keep showing up for what matters most.

This is where mindfulness and civic courage meet. 🌿

Time to clear altars and spiritual centers for the new year. Remove items that no longer have meaning, cleanse, and rearrange.

Today we honor the Winter Solstice — the longest night and the quiet return of the light.

Here’s a simple ritual you can do in just a few minutes:
🕯️ Light a candle.
💛 Place a hand on your heart.
🌿 Ask yourself: What light do I need most right now?
✨ Choose one word and whisper: “This winter, I choose ___.”

Sit with the flame for a few breaths.
Then carry that word with you into the season ahead.

Even in the darkest season, your light is growing.

For a long time, I carried shame around my addiction—
even after years in recovery.

Learning I have ADHD helped me understand why alcohol felt like relief…
and why it ultimately became a problem.

That understanding didn’t excuse my choices—
but it softened the story I told myself.

If you’re unpacking your past, your brain, your coping…
please know you’re not broken.

I recover out loud because I needed someone to do that for me.
And if this resonates, I’m right here with you. 🤍
