🌟 Huge thanks to Medical Teams International, the UW School of Dentistry, and the incredible volunteers from UW Dental and Medical Schools for making last week's health fair, sponsored by the Iraqi Arab Health Board, a resounding success! 🙏 Special shoutout to the Muslim American Youth Foundation for hosting this impactful event. Students gained invaluable experience, while community members received urgent dental care and essential health education on diabetes, hypertension, and common respiratory conditions. Truly a win-win for all! 💪✨

On 5/13/2023 the Iraqi/Arab Health Board had the pleasure of holding a community health fair in partnership with MAPS MCRC Clinic Clinic of Muslim Association of Puget Sound - MAPS - MAPS. We had the pleasure of hosting 150 community members and 40 children.
The event included in-person appointments with MAPS-MCRC Community Clinic.

We would like to thank our partners who led the booths for the following activities:
Harborview Medical Center: Covid-19 and flu vaccinations
Fred Hutch Center for Community Health Promotion: Colon, lung and breast cancer screening
Large inflatable figures represent human organs
SHIFA organization led by UW medical students: Diabetes and hypertension screening
Essentials First: toiletries and supplies for community members with unstable housing
King County Library System
Seattle Veterinary Outreach
of Washington department of obstetric and gynecology
Genentech: pharmaceutical and research services
The University of Washington School of Dentistry students: oral health education, oral exams and screenings

Zane Counseling: Mental health services
U.S. Food and Drug Administration: food and drugs safety
Nurse-Family Partnership: providing resources and health education to new mothers
Public Health - Seattle & King County: Providing countless resources to community members including hope link and medical insurance

The children as well as the grown ups :) enjoyed walking around the inflatable mega lung and colon while learning about anatomy and cancer prevention.

Last but not least, we would like to thank our wonderful IAHB team members and volunteers who worked so hard to make it a successful event.

The event will include in-person appointments with MAPS-MCRC Community Clinic and booths for the following activities:

Physical therapy services
Screening of diabetes & hypertension
Vet services
Library services
Activities for kids
Snacks and goodies
Raffle at the end of the event with valuable gifts
Dental and oral health services
A gynecologist will be available to answer questions regarding women’s health

On 11/4/2022, we had the pleasure of resuming our first annual health fair since the pandemic started. It was such fun and fulfilling to serve Arab and Somali community in Burien city Muslim American Youth Foundation in partnership with Othello Station PharmacyFred Hutch Harborview Medical Center UW Medicine Public Health - Seattle & King CountyGENE TECH. We focused on, hypertension and diabetes screening, cancer screening (breast, colon, lungs), immunizations (covid-19, flu), smoking cessation, and women's health. Our event included fun activities for kids, distribution of gift bags, and a raffle with valuable gifts such as tablets. Our lovely volunteers did a great job helping out with this event.
