Phil Borges Productions Storytelling for Social Change

http://philborges.com

Our media team produces films, exhibitions and books designed to raise awareness and inspire support for social and environmental issues facing people in the developing world. Phil’s recent project, Crazywise, explores the relevance of Shamanic traditional practices and beliefs to those of us living in the modern world. Crazywise centers around a young man struggling with his sanity, world renowned mental health professionals, and a gutsy survivor-led movement...all challenging a mental health system in crisis.

Hi everyone. It's been a long time since I've posted anything. I've been working on a few things, non of which I feel are ready to share. But, my good friend, Art Wolfe has been busy and does have a beautiful book he is just releasing - Wild Lives. As always Art's work is stunning. I am excited that he has partnered with Gregory Green who shares essays focusing on the why of wildlife conservation and recovery, discussing the redistribution of animals and their habitats dating all the way back to the Ice Age.
You can check it out at wild.artwolfe.com and if you feel you'd like to have a copy of this beautiful book you can use the code BORGES for a 10% discount. (Just in time for holiday gift giving?)

Our program, Bridges to Understanding, was a great way for people to learn about digital storytelling. If that's of interest to you I just learned of a set of workshops you may want to explore. They cover filmmaking fundamentals and storytelling.

SheridanWorks offers courses in filmmaking. Some courses are offered regularly, and others based on interest. Be in touch if there is a course that you would like but that is not currently listed.

Just returned from Italy - a huge thanks to everyone at for organizing a lecture at Libera Accademia di Belle Arti (LABA) and all the work associated with a gallery opening. In addition to the high standards they displayed with the openings I was impressed with their dedication to photography and the photography community.

I'm helping to spread the word about this opportunity.

Pexels, as part of their Pexels for Change initiative, has teamed up with the International Fund for Animal Welfare (https://www.ifaw.org/) to host an animal and wildlife photo contest that will help IFAW and its mission of a better future for animals, through the power of imagery.

All imagery donated through this contest will be available to IFAW and the public through their free photosharing platform.
