As communities across the nation come together to observe National Hospice and Palliative Care during the month of November, we proudly embrace the theme: “We See the Whole You.”

Hospice care focuses on treating the whole person—body, mind, and spirit. At the heart of this year’s theme is our commitment to understanding each patient as a unique individual, not just a diagnosis. We recognize their stories, values, cultures, and dreams, ensuring that care is tailored to provide three outcomes – physical comfort, emotional well-being, and spiritual peace. And we understand and support the family that is often a part of the "whole you."

Excited to announce that our own Dr. Curtis Kommer will be giving a talk at the OLLI - Osher Life Long Learning Institute in Sedona on Monday, November 10th from 1-3 pm. (Sedona Center - Yavapai Community College Campus)
His presentation - Navigating the Aging Process will be a discussion about why we age, strategies to slow the process, how to use the healthcare system wisely, how to best manage your affairs as you get older, and how to prepare for the end-of-life.

If you have not heard Dr. Kommer speak, you are in for an inspiring session, as he speaks with knowledge, humor, and grace. Dr. Kommer has been with Accord Hospice of Sedona for 10 years - 8 of those years as Medical Director. He always serves our patients and their families with expertise and phenomenal care and continues to support our clinical team and provide education on end-of-life care to the Sedona/Verde Valley communities. He is also a published author and an accomplished artist.

OLLI is an inquiring and engaged community of adults, age 50 and above, who share an interest in learning about traditional discipline and fascinating new areas of knowledge.

We are excited to announce that Verde Valley Oasis Reptile Ranch and Rescue will be returning to Camp SOAR on October 4th at the Sedona United Methodist Church! And they will be bringing some of our favorite jungle friends!
Camp SOAR is for kids ages 6-13 who are coping with a significant loss and this year our Day of Adventure will be celebrating with a jungle safari. Games, hands-on activities, food, fun, and new friends will take place at this one-day camp!

Accord Hospice of Sedona is pleased to join in this weeklong celebration recognizing the role of assisted living in caring for seniors and individuals with disabilities. Appropriately, the theme this year is "Ageless Adventures," which highlights the continued offering of experiences that enhance the lives of those who reside at our Assisted Living Facilities.

We are excited to welcome our campers on Saturday, October 4th to this jungle safari - full of adventure and fun! It will take place at the Sedona United Methodist Church from 9 am - 3 pm.
